Don't like it. It looks fat, huge overhanging federalised bumpers and all. I have seen it in the flesh a few times and having seen close up in a number of colours, looks very Americanised, not Jag at all.

Interior is poor, what does it say? Doesn't do anything for me. I know they have been struggling for years to move on and appeal to a younger customer but they have lost all their heritage.

When the existig XK8 was revealled, i seem to remember we all loved it.
This i have to say is a disapointment.

At first I wasn't too sure - I liked the styling, but I really liked the out going one.

However having looked at the jag site, it looked better, and the rear lights dont look as bad as the picture here, in fact I think they look far better.

If the engine sounds as good as the one on the website - wow.

What a hornets nest! At least, looking on the overall bright side, people care enough about Jaguar to have an opinion! The 6-series, while I admit it is a good looking car, will be dated within 5 years, and the Jaguar will still look timeless in 8. If it did not exist, it would be a much more depressing place than if people got upset because they did not like the side vents.

That's a very good point. Radical design ages quickly, not sure why but the 6 will definitely look very old once BMW makes its style correction.

Mixed feelings on this Jag, but you are right again, its quite an elegant shape and one that shouldn't age harshly. The rear lights just don't sit together (look out of shape), but once that's done its not bad.

Have you sat in a Mustang and felt the build quality...or lack thereof??? It is $25k because it is built down to a price.

Yes I have sat in one, the first one in Britain to be run up a dragstrip. Bone stock and with only 800 miles on the clock, it ran 13.59 @ 101mph in the hands of it's owner, faster than the 60 grand Jag. Yeah the build quality might not be up to Jag standards, but for the $82k difference in price, I want more than just better build quality...why does it have to be so expensive?

The overhang doesnt exist like it seems its does in the photos; its a camera trick. The bumper is very curved which gives the appearance of being a big front overhang at the wheels. I made a point of checking this out when I saw it.

Rose tinted? I reckon its difficult to say, as forums in those days werent too popular, so people didnt discuss it as much.

I am quite happy on the overall to accept peoples opinons that they dont like it, and do think that there is an americanised side to it. But lets not make brash overarching statements.

It may be a decent looking coupe, but if it had no jaguar badges it would not be clear what it was. I want a jaguar to be instantly recognisable as so, that's the whole point for me, but then, I love the shape of the X-type. I would suspect those who would buy this car have not owned other Jaguar models before, or even been Jaguar admirers.

I think this car is a piece of crap and that the designer is the most overrated currently working.

Jaguar would have had a straight out hit if they d had the courage of their convictions and sanctioned the XK180 and F-Type for production. These were Jaguars. But sadly, other than the original XJ220 show car from 1988,which remains in my top three of car designs, there has nt been a true Jaguar in 30 years now.Bill Lyons must be spinning like a turbine!

Ford may have saved the name Jaguar in 1989,but they killed the spirit, lineage and just about everything else.
