hi looking at a Antigua blue tommorow, have not seen one in flesh is it a good or bad colour.

it nearly has fsh missed dec 05 service as it had only done 6kmiles since last service. So recommended to get a 70 and 80 kmile service along with spark plugs.

The car had to had a new thermostat in dec gone, should alarm bells be ringing.

Apparently its had no problem with engine, jag dealer done a test when there was a high lighter problem and said car was fine, do not know what the results were.

WHAT i need to know is do i have to go to jag for a blow test. or could a MOT centre do it any idea on cost. Want to know how healthy engine is.

One thing the service dept did say was that suspension problems can happen with a age of this car bushes etc, are they expensive.

With regards to time chain tensioners they have not been replaced told you have a rattle first is it easy to spot.

Should i get a inspection if so where from or would a mot suffice, the seller wants a quick sale as they have got new one now.

i just do not know what to look for in the car advice greatly appreciated.

As last i went to see the owner paid for blow teast but suprising to him it came back as 32 which i told was on high side,

What is the result for a healthy engine

The jag-lovers forum says this re blow-by results for nikasil engines:

"Your cut out 'n' keep guide to nikasil blow-by figures:

Up to 10 = excellent
Up to 15 = good
Up to 20 = OK
Over 20 = Hmmm.
Over 30 = run away"

So - looks like a "run away"?

Tensioners may not rattle so on a 99 car with 70K miles I think I would budget to at least do the secondarys. Suspension bushes are cheap but fitting them is not Wheel bearings are a weakness but if you buy a car of the weight of an XK you will need to do these sometime. Nikasil linings are unlikely to degrade further as all UK fuel is low Sulphur, over @ xkec.co.uk some owners are finding their blow by readings are dropping during their ownership
Hope the test drive goes well.

travelled to see car. Did test drive car seemed ok, but occassional after reaching 60mph or beyond it was jutterring if running short of fuel, Do not know if this could be something simple or not, i thought leather for a 99 seemed well worn, maybe they were more with being exposed to sun. I was just comparing to my old xjs many years ago at 10 yrs old the ivory was immaculate.

As it happens owner seemed suprised on performance says he take it in for a check. has not used it in couple of weeks with getting new car, its due a service as well

Since he bought a new one i would of thought he could of made an effort to wash it again, but then again i was seeing it as it was.

I was a little disappointed after travelling nearly six hunred mile.

i may now go dealear mode, photos can be different to in the flesh.
