My XKR insurance was £342.99 last year with the RAC
Got the initial quore through www.insuresupermarket.com
I then spoke to someone on the phone who added extras onto my cover at less cost to me.

PS All insurance companies will swap NCD between spouces

Thanks. Just tried the supermarket site and got £326 lowest quote! I'll need to follow up tomorrow and check it (and the fine detail of the policy in case it skimps on anything) but even the second best quote was £430. Wow. I take it all back. Many thanks.

Hiya,
Try A-Plan Insurance.
I used them with my Cerbera and they were very good.
I have just got the renewal price through for the XKR (37, 5 x Yrs NCB, living in NW London, kept on the drive and SDP + commuting) at £840, which I reckon is pretty good for our area which is always pricey.

Mine's insured with Norwich Union - only costs about £50 more PA to insure than a Mondeo 1.8.

I'm 38 and currently pay £950 with Adrian Flux (fully comp, protected no claims, £300 excess) for my XKR 4.2 2002.

Just to close on my insurance story, I ended up getting the best deal from A-Plan Insurance. £589 all in for fully comp for my XJR and they gave me credit for my wife's maximum no claims on her car.

I highly recommend A-Plan (try Chris Kozak at their Newbury office he was very helpful).

Classic wood indeed!

An advantage of being 'old' (40s) and driving an 'old' car (13): cheap insurance.

About £350 without the extras for an XJS.

Of course you pay out any savings on maintanance

Be aware that whichever insurance company you call will ask you about annual mileage but then will never ask you what the
clock says now - and will never ever ask you what the clock says if anything happens.
Always tell them it's garaged (they will never check) and never say that you use it for business.
It's their risk - so let them take it.
You can shave a beard and moustache off your insurance this way.
Perfectly legal. Perfectly sensible.

Also...
Whoever you bank with has a deal with an insurance company and if you ask your bank manager
to get you a better deal than anything you have been quoted so far he almost certainly can and will.

That's a bit of a naive outlook.

Do you know why they don't check at the time? Because when you make a claim (and I have for theft and they DID come round to my house) they will compare what you said at the time of getting a quote to what you actually have - and then if it doesn't add up they will refuse to pay.

They're always looking for a way out of paying up on a claim. So in actual fact it's your risk not theirs! I would hate to see the compensation and legal bill for somebody that you knocked over to which the insurance company have washed their hands of you because you told them you had a garage when you actually didn't for the sake of £100!

I have just renewed with Adrian Flux on my XJ8 - £433 for fully comp plus £42 for a decent breakdown cover for the year, with 4 years protected no claims. I went through the insurance comparison sites and the lowest they came back with was esure at £504. Bargain!
