Personally I love the S-TYPEs style. We affectionately call it the 'Slug'.

If their comments made sense then, ok, but they don't. Comments like "the ugliest car in the world" are just ridiculous and this is all to with the grille which they hate on this car, but love on all other Jags.
I like these cars so much that I'm considering trading my XJ8 for one, the R that is.

I love my S type R ,as a value for money Q car i think its unbeatable.Driven the xkr around the ring ,and also tested the xjr both outstanding cars but as phil said, as a drivers car the Stype R takes some beating .

Hi There again

Sorry - haven't worked out how to clip bits of previous messages into my reply...

Champagne flute - very good idea

Pacific Blue car in macclesfield? - No, mine's black

MPG?....27?.....possibly at 75mph all day on a motorway - couple of hundred miles, half on B roads, half on motorway gets you (me) about 21 (compared with 19 in the M5). Crawling round town is worse (16-17ish)

Q-car? - most definitely yes

As an aside...I really like the idea of a black S type R (such as mine) with Black Wheels. I've searched, but have never seen a picture of such a thing, but have started trying to source appropriate wheels....I want to keep the same geometry, so need a pair of 8 inch wheels at the front and 9.5 at the back...I've explored a couple of avenues, but think my best bet would be to buy a set of second hand, probably zeus, alloys which were made for the S Type R, and have them powder coated...any pictures of an existing black/black car greatly received, or indeed - comments...deep folly?

Guy 10;
Go to U.S. based www.styperregistry.com and click on "Photos" to open pictures of members' Jaguar STR's. Scroll down to Leroy's photos to see black alloys on his car although his Jaguar is not black. Hope this helps.

Hi Guy,

You could just get your existing alloys shot blasted and powder coated in black, It'll cost you about £50-75 a corner. If you don't like it, get it taken off and sprayed back to the original colour.

(I think it'd look ace thumbup)

Had if for nearly a year now, it's on 47k miles and I've done 10k of that..

I couldnt find a decent low mileage M5 and a local dealer to me had an S Type R advertised.

It really is a nice car to drive, plenty of grunt the gearbox works really well as do the brakes and the cabin is a nice place to be.

On a long motorway journey at an average of 80mph you will probably get high 20's maybe into the low 30's mpg but round town 19mpg.

Havent had any problems with mine but it's still under the Jag warranty so piece of mind.

Great cars and second hand great valve for money.

Would I be right in saying that you hit the 155 limiter?

Then you most certainly have a good one. An American mag has the STR 0-150 at a comparitively poor 49secs, yours is 33secs uphill and your speedo is accurate, if you decide to sell I might be interested

I start from about 70mph btw not 0 so that adds about 7 seconds on I suppose..Being cold and not much fuel helps too I suppose.

You have another video where you go from about 20-120, an STR does 30 in < 2secs, your 30-100 is < 10secs, then on the 70-155 video your 100-150 is 21secs, then add altogether we have 33secs or less.

I love the little traction light flickering away on the 0-110mph vid.
