Chances are my XJR will need a full engine-out rebuild, so is there owt I can do while it's in bits? Does anyone know of any UK tuners who do goodies for the six-cylinder lump?

TIA.

Loads of goodies available and still a few good guys out there. We mainly deal in the V12 but still do classic XK's and the odd AJ6/AJ16 units. There are quite a few who know these units such as Racing Green, AJ6 Engineering, Rob Beere Racing, etc

Ah, cheers for that, guys. A couple of those names ring a bell from when I had my XJS, but my Googling had become fruitless.

Any suggestions about what to do without spending loads? Is it worth porting the head while it's off?

On all the 6's port matching is very poor as standard, so you can get quite a suprise there, flowing does help but do not try to get a polished finish as this creates fuel to "beed" in the ports like water on a newly waxed car !

Thanks very much for the advice.

Is the supercharged 4-litre much different internally from the normal lump? If my head turns out to be cracked, could I use one from any old Jag?
