Replacement exhaust
Discussion
Do it yourself, its very very easy, normaly only 3 or 4 bolts each down pipe, and the exhaust is hung on rubber stays that just pull off the old system and push onto the new one
If you lived in scotland id do it for nothing, sure there must be someone local to you that would do it for a slab of beer, bottle of wine etc

Try Paramount Performance in Beaconsfield, Junc 2 M40, who do some very nice sounding SS exhausts. www.paramount-performance.com
Just an idea, as an alternative approach.........
My car is a 2003 XKR 4.2. I have had a replacement 'Cat Back' exhaust made and fitted by a local "Powerflow" custom exhaust dealer. It sounds excellent, is all stainless steel, looks exactly like 'Big Bore' Systems available on the market and cost me a grand total of £340 (incl VAT). That has allowed me to save over £ 1000 that I can put toward other modifications!

Hiya,
I will get some pics uploaded over the weekend, and Yes Powerflow do have a website!
N.B: Its a bit "Max Power" for my liking but if you look beyond that and speak to the fitters themselves they are very helpful!
Search under the 'dealer locator' page of the website:
The web site address is: www.powerflowexhausts.net
The company I used were 'Top Gear' in St Albans, as it is close to me and they have done a few cars I have owned. But there are quite a few exhaust companies with Powerflow expertise across the UK.
Hope that helps and will try to post some pics tomorrow!

Hi Cerby
Sounds a cost effective alternative to a full or half system.
Although I do enjoy the refinement of the standard system, i would love to enjoy a V8 rumble on hard acceleration. I had a half system fitted on my previous XK8 a couple of years ago. That system sounded great on hard acceleration, but the drone on the motorway and increased noise on even moderate acceleration drove me mad.
Hows your system on light throttle or cruising on the motorway in terms of noise compared to the original system.
cheers

Hiya, the noise on light throttle is fine, just a hushed rumble. The sound on the motorway is great when you 'boot it', but then settles down when cruising so no droning or resonance at all!! If you are every around MW London/Middlsex let me know and you can see the car and have a listen!

Tried Powerflow companies in Kent and they were talking about £500 half system and 700-800 ful system. Bought a second hand David Markes for my XKR from a fellow XKEC member
You need to be careful with some Powerflow dealers as they can be expensive. I have one nearer to me in Kingsbury, but have never actually used, them as every quote I have asked for they are nearly double the price of the one I use in St Albans! As with everything regarding car parts/services it pays to shop around!
