2nd hand Jag XK8

Not for here if you want full answers. Before transferring the query to the Jaguar section, go there and within minutes ye shall find the answers you seek! Nikisil and tensioners are the main probs (beware the 'death rattle' my friend!) but I am no expert so be off with you to the Jaguar section of this hallowed portal.
Johnniem is right. Liners and tensioners are one of the most expensive things that could go. You'll want to make sure the vehicle has had the steel linen engine as opposed to the nikasil (or if it hasn't, get a blowby test done to make sure the compression is ok).
Check for knocking from the bushes too as it's quite common that these wear out. Check any squeeks from the power stearing etc etc etc.
Providing it's been well maintained throughout its life, the car should be reasonably bomb proof. It's scary to think that the old model XK could be up to 11 years old now!
