Help please - which oil for 2000 XKR

I've had my XKR (yr 2000) a couple of weeks and taken advantage of the good weather today to give the cat a clean and check the oil/water, etc.
Unfortunately I don't seem to have the book that gives details on engine maintenance!
1) The oil needs topping up, what type should I use?
2) How high up the reservoir should the coolant come? What typr should I use to top it up. It just says 'orange' on the cap.
All advice greatfully received.

Factory spec oil is Castol 5/30 and if you want the best protection for your cooling system get your coolant from a local Jag dealer, top up coolant reservoir to with in 3/4" of the top of reservoir. If you look inside the reservoir there are usually molded plastic blocks marked min and max IIRC, fill to level with top of max.

If you have to top up coolant, don't mix the new orange long life Jaguar coolant (JJLM 209723) with the older type, or any other brand. Cars from VIN 878274 should have been filled with the orange coolant which should be changed every 5 years or 150 000 miles.
If you do change the coolant, as a precaution, fit a new thermostat at the same time.
I'd suggest changing the oil more often than 10k or one year as well. I'm convinced over extended service intervalls and consequent embrittlement of plastic components by acid build up in the oil contribute to timing gear problems.
Keep the oil topped up to the max mark. I've heard the V8 can occasionally suffer oil starvation on crank bearings on hard cornering if the oil level is too low. Don't know if this is true, but obviously not worth finding out.

Braddy, I fully support Jaguar Steve's advice re the coolant. Simply buy the stuff at a Jaguar main dealer, make sure it is the correct coolant for you engine (sounds like the orange/pink colour to me, the same as mine 4.2 S-Type). Shame it's maybe £7-£8 a litre, though. Do not top up with anything else: even plain water will turn the coolant into sludge in a short time.
