Hi, I started this thread back in Monday 8th March 2010, looking for any info on the Lister XJ12C. Since that time I have been lucky to have found and viewed 2 of the original cars featured in this thread, plus know the location of the third. Thank you all for your help.
Now to my story. I purchased my Jaguar XJC back in 1987 and as soon as I could I wanted to modify it (typical 21 year old). Lowered springs and new alloys and tyres made it look super cool, but soon I couldn’t afford to keep it on the road, so I sneaked it into a small shed at my parents house.
A few years later I picked up a copy of Top Car mag with a feature on the Lister XJ12C… I was hooked. One day I wanted to build something similar as I certainly couldn’t afford to buy one!
Here we are many decades later, I still have the XJC that went into the shed decades ago and so the long, slow journey starts to build my Lister XJC tribute…

Has anyone spotted this XJC that appeared at Meguiars Motorex 2023 last weekend? The quality of the build is mind blowing!

That is a good looking car!
Don’t suppose you know the wheel diameter fitted to it? Not a lover of the Kent alloys but in that size they look spot on smile

The car was built by Exclusive Customs in Australia and the wheels are 18x9.5 apparently.

Thank you. 18’s seem to be the sweet spot of sizes for the xjc. The quality of the interior of that car is absolutely amazing. Not to my taste but fit and build is wow! The rear seat looks better without the pull down armrest though

I remember mine being a stripped bare shell full of holes. If it’s ok to ask what budget do you have? Just thinking if the xjc can wear 9.5jx18’s why fit wider lister wheel arches? Sitting low on standard shaped wheel arches suits the xjc perfectly smile

Parked next to this XJ coupe at the classic car show earlier this year, almost the auntie of my car! Was a V12 manual as well, and had the older Arden appendages fitted, belonged to Tom Lenthall no less...

Hi RobXjcoupe, the shell isn’t too terrible, but saying that, I bought the car in about 1987 with 47k miles and even by then it had new outer sills, fibreglass front wings and welded in rear arches, but after another 3 years of daily use most of the bottom six inches of the car were gone. as for the budget umm, many thousands to replace the rusted panels before any other progress…
