VW 2.0 TDI injector recall.
Discussion
I just wanted to share my experience from Wednesday last week.
I didnt receive a recall notice. I just called up my local Audi dealer after reading this thread, the advisor checked the system and booked it in under the recall.
The car is an A3 170, I was told to drop the car off around 8.30, they provided an A1 courtesy car which was a real bonus. Then the very polite advisor called at 11.30 to say that all the work had been carried out and would be ready to pick up at 14.30 after it had been washed.
The tick over seems much smoother and a small increase in mpg.
Very happy, well done Audi

I phoned the local dealer last week who said I needed to contact VW customer services as I did not have a recall letter from VW, CS confirmed our car was within the recall and passed us back to the dealer who arranged for the car to go in today. They did say the recall was for carbon build up which was causing poor starting & running and they would clean or replace if needed, as it happens the injectors were replaced.. VW not being entirely honest with customers
Well, I had my injectors and harnesses done on my passat tdi 170 two months ago. I've also seen an increase in mpg.... at least 5 or 6mpg gained! On motorway trips (20miles+) I now regularly achieve around 52mpg by sticking to the speed limit, never happened before the recall, at best I was getting 47mpg...
Could they have changed the engine calibration as well?!?!? (and maybe detune the engine a bit? this would definitely help the well known issue of the dpf getting clogged up on these engines). Has anyone checked?

I found this page a few days ago , not the usual blab blah recall etc etc , but good write up on what these things are and how they might fail

I have a skoda octavia VRS diesel that has just had the injectors changed following a recall. It has not un rright since and the garage found faulty wiring - part of the ECU which was replaced at a cost to me of £400.00 - they originally wanted £700.00. Can anyone confirm whether the recall includes injectors and part of the loom as standard. It looks like VW's have both other makes - audi seat skoda not. Has anyone else had trouble with the running following the recall? thanks for your help and comments.
hi
can anyone advise please
i took my touran in for this injector recall
then a couple of weeks later a loud cracking noise comes from the engine and it looses power
RAC tow it to VW dealer who take head off and say that 4th cylinder completely wrecked by foreign body (which they say they couldn't find) that got in there and was bashing around
engine is a write off and quoting 6k to replace
too much of a coincidence ?
i'm suspicious that they might have dropped something (e.g. a nut?) when they were doing the work that could have fallen into the chamber
is that possible/likely
can anyone advise please

Not really. If a nut had fallen into the cylinder. The car wouldn't have made it to the carpark before killing itself. Much less couple weeks.can anyone advise please

Hi All,
Im new to this and need help as I dont know a great deal about cars and seem to be getting fobbed off I have a 2.0 tdi passat on a 55 plate, I recently I took in into VW (JCT600 Hull) for a full service all was going well until they told me I had fuel in the oil when they did the filter and change. They then charged me £87 for a diagnostic check which came up with nothing and everything working well (ive asked them to email me what was checked and they dont seem to want to say), they then told me they needed to remove the cylinder head at a cost of 5 hours labour (£450) as they thought it was the injector/injector seals? I called another garage who said that they shouldnt need to remove cylinder heads to find the fault especially if there still not 100% certian. I called VW and advised I'd spoken to another garage and they then change there mind saying they didnt need remove head but they were 80% certain the injector seals had gone and could replcae for £505!!
I told them I wasnt preperred to pay so much considering there not 100% sure, My boyfriend found out on one of these forums that my model passat actually had a recall on the injectors. When I spoke to the service manager he said it wasnt a different model but the very helpful lady behing the counter said yes it was actually on my model (Service Manager looks uncomfortable) and the injector and injector seals where replaced in March last year by Lookers in Teesside (Previous Owner)
They now have the car and are looking into it and wether these can be replaced for free Very doubtful), what i'd like to know is would the seals have gone if replaced 16 months ago? is it possible seals used were fault;y? or the work was never carried out in the first place?
Many Thanks Katie

Hi,
I'm hoping to view a 2008 2 litre TDI 140 Sport on Saturday and am a little concerned about the injector issues on this engine.
Just to clarify, all of the cars with the engine codes listed on the thread are eligible for the injectors to be replaced under the warranty, or is this subject to certain conditions i.e. below a certain mileage or full service history etc?
Has this issue been known to happen on other injectors that are not covered under the recall.
I must say that this has put me off a little, not just due to the potential costs, but also the safety implications.
Any further advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
