Audi s6 v10 running costs
Discussion
I bought one last November and haven't had any problems or costs over and above general maintenance.
Tyres are 265/35/19. I replaced all four last month and paid £1000 for the Audi approved (AO) Continentals. After having shelled out for the Conti's, I noticed that mytyres were, and still are selling Toyo T1 with the same Audi approval for £135. I'm going to buy a set and keep them in the garage.
I've used a good independant for servicing and paid £550 for a major service which included quantum 5w40 oil and filter change, fuel, air, and pollen filters, brake fluid and a change of all ten platinum spark plugs. When I just bought the car, I had an interim oil and filter change which cost around £150 at the same garage.
Fingers crossed, I haven't had any problems and have been using it as my daily driver. I have fitted a non resonated Milltek which cost around £1200. It now sounds amazing. You'll probably want to do the same if you did buy one as the V10 is a little muted.
With winter on it's way, I might change the battery which will cost around £90 and I'm thinking of getting some 18" BBS CH replicas in black and winter tyres which will cost less than a set of four Continentals.

As above, they're pretty tough and we don't see any real problems with them.
Tyres are expensive (but the Toyos mentioned above sound like a bargain) and the fuel bills are vaguely hilarious. Standard exhaust is so boring you'd need a detective to find the V10 but they absolutely sing with a Milltek on.

Is there a big difference between the S6 and the RS6 when driving in town or cruising down the motorway at 80/85?
Dont know...all i know is my V10 RS6 is as follows!!!!!!!!!!!6mpg to 10mpg max round town
25mpg best ive evr had on a run 70 - 85ish
80 litre tank too....
Dont even think about one unless you are prepared for mega running costs!!! The RS6 that is.
Saying that i love it to bits!!!

That's too good! I'd only consider it at less than <15mpg. I used to get 17-19mpg from my 8P 3.2 and about the same from the 987C. Easternlight said:

Two 06 plates on AT, one 13k one 16k talk about a lot of car for the money! but both black and I hate black cars.
Currently talking to the chap with the £13k one...Two 06 plates on AT, one 13k one 16k talk about a lot of car for the money! but both black and I hate black cars.
Does the 4wd system of these have issues with different tread depths on the front and rear tyres?
Nope, as long as you've got matched pairs on the axles you're fine.
Tyres are quite dear, they can punish their brake discs, scuffed seat bolsters (can be repaired cheaply), make sure everything on MMI works (particularly bluetooth and CD changer) they're generally very reliable but faults can be expensive. Make sure rear screen wash jet works and there are no sign sof leaks in the boot (particularly behind nearside trim).
