Currently talking to the chap with the £13k one...
Does the 4wd system of these have issues with different tread depths on the front and rear tyres?
Lovely looking motor that one would be after that myself if it wasn't black, tyres need to be close on axle pairs but not so important font to back, don't think its as big an issue as some make out from what I've read.Does the 4wd system of these have issues with different tread depths on the front and rear tyres?
From your recent posts I know your looking for a big estate, there's a nice superb 3.6 4x4 on AT, 11 plate, 18k though and black again.

Other than putting the car on a set of rollers, is there a way to determine whether it suffers from a coking issue. the car in quetion has about 88,000 miles, FASH and 2 owners so it appears to have been driven and maintained as it should.
Drive it hard, use some revs.If someone has been bimbling it's entirely possible it'll be a bit gunked up but the 10s are nowhere near as fragile as the 8s. Only seen it cause a problem on one and that just needed a clean and a new manifold flap motor.
Cheers chaps, The one I'm looking at needs a couple of boots, pads all round and a CV boot and a bush in the link arm. I'm guessing if I budget a grand or so it should see the car sorted?
I am looking for a fast estate to replace my 530i and was only looking to spend £10k max, but thsi S6 looks like value and is making me think.

You'll probably get away with less than a grand. A couple of tyres will be around £500. If you don't mind aftermarket pads, you'll probable be able to get a full set all round from ECP for around £100. I got some Pagid ones a few months ago and they were ok.
When I bought mine, it had done a few motorway miles and the front end was riddled with stone chips. It's black too which highlighted the chips. It did my head in that much that I got the front end done last month.

Didn't even drive it? Turns out the pictures in the add are 18 months old and it doesn't appeared to have been loved since. Unwashed inside and out, appeard to have had some paint but couldn't properly examine as it was dirty, may have also have spent its life going through car washes from all I could tell.
Boot motor had failed dropping the corner of the boot on to the roof, taking the paint off and denting it, this hasn't been touched in and was rusting, the boot hadn't been recentred.
Seller couldn't find all the paperwork, whilst services had been carried out by audi, additional works had been completed by the "local lads".
Passenger bolster was badly worn and the whole interior looked pretty shabby, not helped by the rubberised coverings wearing off some switches and the quality of the leather being pretty average.
My e39 which is 4 years older and has another 20 k miles on it felt significantly fresher.
All in all it didn't feel "right".

Sounds like there are some dogs out there.
I paid £13500 for mine and bought privately from a fellow PHer. Black saloon, 2007 plate, high motorway miles at 80,000 but was definitely cared for. Full Audi service history and lots of invoices for other work. It had 10 new coil packs, new gearbox oil and gasket just before I bought it. The exterior was unmarked apart from a stone chipped bonnet which I've just had sorted. Interior was immaculate and the dash and all the dash buttons were in good condition.
Fingers crossed, I haven't had any problems other than routine maintenance. My thinking is that this is a big, lazy V10 with no turbo or cambelts to worry about so there is a little less to go wrong.
