AFAIK from my days as a TT owner, the standard Haldex system is not really a true AWD.

For 90% of the time, it's FWD and uses a viscous coupling to detect slip - only then diverting the drive to the rear.

Many people on the TT-forum used the haldex controller when doing big turbo builds with a lot of success.

I think the Torsen system (as fitted to A4s and A6s) is permanent AWD and a better bet, but have no ideas how you'd go about making it fit.

The quattro system as fitted to the B5 S4 and RS4 works very well. I've had both.
I will stand corrected if wrong, but pretty sure it's 50:50 split front & rear, but will trasfer power to front or rear were it's needed to 33:66 or 66:33 (could be bothered with fractions, so 1 short). I know of a couple of b5 RS4's being broken, but there are a few S4 also being broken. Any of the 2.7 bi-turbo should have the bits you need. No idea how or if it would fit, but anything can be done if you are clever and patient enough. Good luck.

OP have you not heard of the Leon 4 ?

Buy one from europe (quite cheap) - swap over engine, bodykit, etc, etc
