Looking for a little help from a vr6 owner.

Have looked online and can't find any dimensions for the vr6 engine.

Would someone be able to measure theirs for me or live near Glasgow and could let me have a nosey with a tape measure for 5mins?

Cheers,

I can double check later this evening but a long block is approximately 24inch wide, 32inch long and 35 inches tall.

Well a tall block fitted into a crate not much bigger than the above.

Sounds like an excellent idea. It would definitely need a blog site or at least a thread for your build.

I wonder if it would fit in an MG TF? It could use another 100hp quite easily.

SC not Turbo. And 4WD biggrin

I need something big but relatively short that can sit off-set longitudinally to allow me to run the prop shaft up and down the middle.

It'll encroach slightly into the space behind the passenger seat and would require a custom fuel tank but it's never been done with a mid engined setup. Have a Mk2 sitting there i'm going to strip so weighing up options for it.

bow

Which charger do you think you will use, the Vortech V3 or Rotrex? The vortech v9 is the traditional choice but more recently a few people have started using the C30 rotrex.

Both are capable of pushing a vr6 over 300hp.

The 3.6 VR6 is rated at 290hp i believe.

Starting with a cheaper block and then SCing it might well be the better option though.

I say it's never been done but there was the Mk1 222B rally car that was mid engined 4wd.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the 4wd system... Transfer 'box, front diff etc.

longditudinally, offset to passenger side, mounted transverse engine and box.

(On original gearbox) Left driveshaft goes to rear diff. Right driveshaft goes to Z drive and then on to front diff.

Simplified version but that's it.

If i put the fuel tank and all the exhaust gubbins in right hand side engine bay space then it should balance up pretty nicely. Not sure it'd be that good a road car but would be a hoot to drive.

The VR6 has the exhaust manifold on the driver's side but should be ok.

Other thought was a Supra straight 6 on an Mr2 Turbo box but then you're definitely not taking any passengers biggrin

It's this at the low end and save money or go all out and do the VX420. Have a hankering for something unusual again.

Sounds interesting. Have thought many times about using a transverse 'box with the driveshaft outputs as propshafts for 4wd but I've never managed to convince myself what should be done with the original (now centre) diff. I am surprised there aren't more Kit Group B cars around this this configuration. Will be interesting to find how it works out, if you get this built!
