Mk5 Golf GTI Loss of Power
Discussion
Well the garage I use is incredibly busy, so the car won't be going in until Thursday afternoon. Luckily it's more than drivable till then.
Drove with the window down earlier and i'm sure I could hear a very faint whistle then "tssshhh" as I let off the throttle when the turbo was working. Makes me wonder if the diverter valve they put on back in November is playing up?
Shall see though

Mine makes the tssshhh noise after backing off the throttle, still pulls like it should though, i hope mine doens't need any more cash spending on it.Drove with the window down earlier and i'm sure I could hear a very faint whistle then "tssshhh" as I let off the throttle when the turbo was working. The tsssh could be the diverter valve working normally and venting/recirculating boost when the throttle is closed, not sure which type the gti has. The whistle when on boost could be a boost leak, if it is then the car will have logged an underboost fault code. If the engine management light isn't on then it may be logged as an intermittent fault, which not all code readers will recognise. IIRC After 4 or 5 occurrences within a specific time frame the code will be logged as a current/active fault and the engine management light will come on.
