Should I be concerned over a leggy DSG?
Discussion
Just over 3 years ago, I took a 2.0TDI 140 DSG Octavia in PX, it was 3 years old had covered 83,000 miles, it's been in my parents possession since then, now on about 110K it's been faultless. Pretty sure DSG's from about 07 onwards were revised and much more reliable. I'll add they both drive it pretty gently, not sure they've had the DSG oil changed while they've owned it.
As above look for evidence of oil changes and you should be ok, on 80k it will probably be due its second.
I've had two high mileage DSGs, the first a Mk5 GTI and now a Mk6 2.0 TDI. Interestingly the 5 appeared to still have its original gearbox and showing no issues at 100k miles, but the 6 needed a complete new unit at 70k miles according to the paperwork I've got which I didn't see until after purchase.
I would definitely recommend them but you do need to tread carefully. If you're concerned consider an extended warranty.
