I took delivery of one of these in February on a personal lease and have been really happy with it.
I went for base spec 3dr in flash red with tartan seats and its been brilliant. On the standard suspension the car is a very pleasant place to be and IMHO hi wouldn't want anything stiffer for the crappy roads where I live. I test drove a Fiesta ST and whilst I can believe that on a track the Fiesta would be better, for my day to day driving (very little of which is ever close to 9/10) the Polo is by far the nicer car and feels a lot more 'grown up'.
It's replaced my 2006 Suzuki Swift Sport that I owned for over 4 years and whilst I was initially worried I would miss the Suzuki, I've been really impressed. The interior quality is very good and feels like a much more expensive car, and the infotainment and all instrumentation are nice to work with. Coming from the Suzuki the increased speed and torque of a turbo engine is a real eye opener. Being able to floor it at anything over 2.5k revs and still accelerate pretty quickly is a revelation compared to the Suzuki where it always had to be up by the redline to make progress. It's by no means a rocket ship but it at least makes more expensive cars have to try a bit during the inevitable traffic light drag races!
It inst quite as 'direct' as the Suzuki was, but the flip side is that its quiet enough for me to make calls in, my baby can sleep in it, and I have yet to get out of it feeling beaten up in the way I used to in the Suzuki.
TL;DR - Very impressive car and there are some cracking lease /finance options out there!

I used to have a Twingo 133 a few years ago so I can relate to that very well.
I've just been out in a supercharged 435bhp type- r and it's made me realise the importance of torque in a car.
Now don't get me wrong the car was fast. Very fast. But because it only made around 270ib/ft it didn't feel absolutely ridiculous. Polo has 236ib/ft which is a good amount indeed for a standard car of this size.

The cloth interior looks really nicer than the standard Polo's. The GTI looks best in black - you won't see the ridiculous sporty bumper decoration that easy.
Has anyone tried to remove some of the other decoration on their GTI? Badges should be easy, and also the red thing in the front grille. How about the red parts in the headlights, and the zorst decoration - any chance to get them out of sight?

Sounds like you need the 150bhp BlueGT. Less of the chintz and most of the real world power. Gets lots of good reviews.Has anyone tried to remove some of the other decoration on their GTI? This one looks more subtle, but it's not easy for me to pay the same for 150PS when you could have 192PS. This is PH after all.I need a small car for commuting less than 10k mls pa. and urban parking. It should be good value, anonymous and manoeuvrable. The GTI is close to that, but yet not anonymous enough.
One of the reasons I got the car was I thought it wouldn't attract too much attention yet yesterday evening....
Walked out of sainsburys and naturally my first thought was "has someone dented or scratched my car" and then when I saw a man stood next to my car and some sort of people carrier type thing next to it I really did think the worst and was preparing all sorts of comedic insults to throw at him.
I get to the car and the guy says "we were just admiring your car, that's the car they use in rallying isn't it?"
PHEEEEW!!!!
I've had nothing but compliments and attention over it and I genuinely thought it looks nice but nothing OTT like an abarth or clio etc

Yeah it's well worth it. Try and find one out of a regular Polo on ebay as they are all the same basically you want one from a 6R or 6C Polo. Think this sort of shape Polo was out about 2010 or so. Hope that helps with the search as I wouldn't pay what VW want for it!
How much was yours? Cheapest I can find is £180 ish delivered. JoeMarano said:

Had that happen years ago when the missus had a black 9N3 Polo GTI. We came out of Next to find a gang of east Europeans gathered around it. I didn't understand the attraction personally, but they seemed to like it.
