High Mileage V10
Discussion
Anyone any experience or knowledge on high mileage V10's? Car in question is s6.
Car has done in excess of 150k, but has FULL Audi history, and recently had all lamda sensors done and new inlet manifold.
Car is priced to suit mileage, and I accept that at these miles resale and wear and tear could be issues.
Always fancied an s8 but can't justify the price when I do around 50 miles a week!

Mine had a problem with the swirl flaps too. It resulted in the EML being illuminated. Turns out one of the rods had come off the motor which controls them. Popped it back on and fabricated a securing clip. Sorted the problem out. I've heard that the swirl flaps can get gummed up too.
Surely if you get the car at the right price, you'll be able to shift it on without too much of a loss. Are you buying private or from a dealer. In any event, the only thing you'll get bored of is the fuel economy...

Mine didn't stand me that much and I do low miles as well.
I had a Milltek on my last one. Cost around £1150 fitted by Awesome GTI in Irlam. I can't really justify getting a Milltek on this one as the price of the exhaust would be a sizeable percentage of the cost of the car. I bespoke exhaust place has quoted me £450 plus vat for new backboxes though. I might go for that.

a simple rear resonator delete will do quite a bit too - usually around 200 quid to take out the back resonators and put in a simple set of straight sections (or a h-pipe if you are feeling flush)

not quite milltek awesomeness but not bad either!

Sounds good to me! A Milltek would be a big chunk of the purchase price, so at £200ish, I'd be doing that I reckon.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbHcuPYCwb8

i believe so - there is a section missing from the front of that exhaust from what I can see that has the front resonators in it)
in a milltek its the other way round fwiw. the resonated system has no front resonators, and a rear set and back box
stock (h= h-pipe or balance pipe)

Mines had full audi service history, new tyres and pads and discs all round before I bought it.
Servicing is cheap even at main dealers. They have fixed prices servicing for cars older than 3 years. Minor is £189. Major is £365 and that includes two air filters and ten platinum spark plugs. Bargain!
It's a big lazy old v10 lump, no turbos, no dpf. Get it bought.
