Audi RS6 or M6

Off the top of my head, the RS7 list price is about 20k more than the RS6 - which might help with that "exclusivity"?
£6k more. The things that would put me off are the astronomical depreciation, crap choice of alloys and a very limited resale market. The 7 is a big car but not that practical.Kell said:
Just out of interest why M6 v RS6?
Why not M5 v RS6?
I'd have thought the biggest decision to make is whether or not you have to have a coupe.
As for looks, I much prefer estates (tourings or Avants) to saloon cars. Always have done. Can't really explain why.
I agree. Since the B7 RS4 was launched, I have my eyes set for the Estate, it just doesn't look right for a saloon for some reasons. Cant explain why either. I now have a B8 S4 Avant and I don't even have dogs or kids. Why not M5 v RS6?

I actually quite like the look of the RS7!?!?
I owned a new M5 then moved to the new RS6 (which I still have). RS6 is the better car only because of the 4wd, otherwise they are very similar. If BMW did a 4WD M5 I would probably own one only because I prefer BMW. I wont have another M car unless they move to 4wd.
2WD with all that power gets tiresome no matter what others say and I love a bit of sideways action.

I did precisely the same thing and agree with Paul's comments. I would say the M5 felt more direct and quicker at speed, but was very easy to accidentally get out of shape with too much throttle even in dry and warm conditions. 2WD with all that power gets tiresome no matter what others say and I love a bit of sideways action.
Either car is fantastic, just decide which flavour of fantastic you want.

Similar position to the OP... went from a 2-seater (Aston V8V) and needed an estate to cart everything around in... Went for the RS6 and am not disappointed. It is an epic car: understated but incredibly fast and surprisingly drivable for a 2tonne + car
How are you coping with the move from a coupe to a estate?!There are some things i do miss about the Aston - the noise, and its "presence" (hard to explain...); every drive felt special and i would certainly have another in a heartbeat (i have been looking a the classifieds!)
However, with two children, it rarely got used and was therefore pretty pointless, other than something i looked out the window at and admired (which i still did even after 6+ years of ownership).
If you want a practical car that is ridiculously quick then the RS6 is amazing.. it doesn't get the same attention the Aston did (for better and for worse!), but compared to the Aston Rapide that i was also looking at i am glad i went for the Audi (in my view the Rapide was just too compromised.. neither fish nor fowl)
