The 6 has more road presence, and is much better looking imo, plus the Audi turbo unit is world class. Not tried AMG's latest version.
But AMG better Q car - the 6 attracts more attention than any other car I have owned.
General question why is the Audi unit superior to he Merc? The Audi unit is much less economical (5th gear test 10 laps of Rockingham Audi 3mpg Merc 8Mpg at an average speed of well over 100mph. Audi was 8 seconds quicker due to traction/confidence but over that distance is minuscule and irrelevant on the road). Never said it was inferior or superior. As I wrote, I have not tried the new AMG turbo unit in an E. As for the C7 RS6 engine a) I own one and can personally vouch for its abilities. b) it is universally praised by every review I have read and c) many serious motoring hacks prefer it over the 12 cylinder in the Bentley application. As for 8 seconds after 10 laps - I will take that, as would Mercedes if it were the other way around
And please don't start another mpg debate - as I state previously in the thread my six has averaged 22mpg over 7000 miles of pretty hard use, and 28mpg on long journeys on motorways. Unbelievable for its size and power.
The car has moved on majorly in dynamic terms since the 5 and 6 versions - you should try it to see what the fuss is about (one caveat - the V10 was a cracking engine, but in a wooden chassis and too thirsty for me).
PS real world AMG mpg in new turbo units (eg C63s) appear worse than RS6 - but we all drive differently so hard to compare.

Although by no means 'foolproof' the American EPA figures are as near as damnit in the ballpark for what various long term testers seem to get.
https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs...
Obviously the car has to be available stateside to be listed, and factored for the differing size of the US Gallon (1.2 USG to the Imp G), so 21 for the RS7 (RS6 unavailable there) becomes 25 for the Imperial Gallon - pretty much what EVO are getting on their long term C7 RS6 Performance over the last ~9000 miles.
The EPA tests are very much real world: hot, cold, urban, freeway etc.

And no, it isn't fuel economy, or cost, that interests me, just mileage between pump visits!

does it really matter if it does 400 miles between filling up or 350 miles? both are well into 4-5hrs of driving on the normal UK roads/mways/Aroads and I know I need a nice coffee after 2-3 hrs of driving not much hassle to top her up at the same time is it? https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs...

The RS6 for me is getting about 22mpg my E63 amg was about 19 ish. I just fill up when its empty doesn't bother me/factor in how many miles in between filling tbh. It the fun getting wherever that counts.
Aaaaanyhoo, back to the original subject
Just been offered ~£11K off an optioned RS6 Performance, without finance, by Orangewheels. Dealer in S.W. London. Could be a 5 month wait though
Broadly in line with the Broadspeed discount, pun not intended!
Anyone tried asking JCT600 (my 'local' dealer) for a discount? The brokers didn't seem to be big fans, having had dealings with them in the past.
Ooh forgot to ask, anyone taken out the 'Service, Maintenance and Tyres' cover on their '6, and whether they considered it worthwhile? Particularly interested in what Audi consider fair wear & tear on a set of boots, mileage wise. 10K? 15K?

Audi have reduced finance contributions on RS6 this week - perhaps devaluation is threatening margins.
Ditto on the M3/M4 lease deals. I think the contributions were used as a buffer to modulate exchange rate. If they could get away with full price so be it otherwise they had that to play with - now and possibly perpetually discounts might be non existent, so we've had the jam today and there is no jam tomorrow. Those who were lucky take the upside and possible increase in the used car market but to buy the replacement your going to have to dig deeper or keep your currrent steed and get a brand new 330d instead
