Terraclean do offer a treatment where the cleaning fluid is sprayed into the inlet manifold so that it comes into contact with the inlet valves.
I have seen the results of the BG Products offering after 2 treatments then the head removed and they were really quite impressive however there is a massive issue.
The cleaning fluid takes the path of least resistance so on the V8 engine i witnessed it had one cylinder that was really impressively clean and the rest untouched
If you could ensure the product would come into contact with all the valves then im a believer that these products can have an excellent effect however the current method is all but useless on anything other than a small 4 cylinder.

I half expected these as the dealer reported the car was noticeably down on power when they took it in and so they had the intake Terracleaned (I have a copy of the invoice). I'm not totally convinced it's back up to full power, but that's a separate issue.
They can do that now? Because last time I heard they cant actually do the intake part that cokes up, only the injection systems onwards, if that's still the case then they've missed the main culprit I think you can also let the engine suck cleaning fluid in through the brake booster vacuum pipe, which feeds it directly into the intake?

Either way, the car is only missfiring very occassionally, so it doesn't seem a major problem and I've come to an agreement with the trader over a manual clean.

Is that a significant problem though - presumably the crud from the breather pipes also takes the path of least resistance and isn't uniformly distributed, so if the cleaning fluid takes the same path, that's actually a benefit?I have seen the results of the BG Products offering after 2 treatments then the head removed and they were really quite impressive however there is a massive issue.

I asked earlier but no-one picked up on it - is there a way to filter out the crud before it gets to the intake, I'd much rather work on prevention than treating the symptoms.
I understand there is an oil separator that is supposed to take out all the oil from the breather system - does it not work properly?
Can it be improved?
Will an inline filter or catch can be beneficial?
Seems like it should be an easy fix - stop the crud getting to the intake. Some people even disconnect breather pipes completely - they only recirculate through the intake for emissions control anyway, don't they?

Yep, still have mine - 18 months and 15,000 miles later.
MPG is around 19 mpg on mixed driving. A few niggles with mine, but still a hell of a lot of car for the money and the V10 engine is not only a unique sound, but will no doubt be consigned to history on a road car when these cars finally go to the great breakers' yard in the sky.

Good to hear, how many miles has the car done? MPG is around 19 mpg on mixed driving. What niggles have you had ?
Mines at 40k and has not need anything unusual so far
Manifold flaps, rocker cover gaskets (both sides) and lambda sensor. Nothing earth shattering, just annoying. However, it is a 10 year old car.Mines at 40k and has not need anything unusual so far
Yours is similar age and mileage to the one I've seen.
Any issues with rust anywhere?
This saloon is the first one that caught my eye recently.
But mileage is putting me off it, and I'd prefer the Avant.

This is the Avant I had a look at at the weekend.

"every optional extra" - advert picture shows car doesn't have optional Active Cruise Control. But mileage is putting me off it, and I'd prefer the Avant.
