You won't be able to until January

You can request an extension 6 months out from end of contract so thats December for me - I'll be emailing them to find out. I like the car, but thinking of maybe an XF or a Volvo S90....if those deals remain on the S90 I'll get one of those I think...

Still convinced the update has transformed the drive?
I am, whatever they did it just feels smoother and picks up better from low revs. I don't think there is any difference to the DSG on reflection. It just pulls better from low down.

So mine went back in regards the squeak. They've diagnosed it to the OSF damper and it's been replaced. I pick it up on Monday...
My dealer never fixed mine, I find them pretty rubbish tbh and don't have the patience to send it back there again. I'll probably just live with the incessant squeaking/ rattling.

In other news, starting to wonder whether we can extend once the lease term is up in June. Not hugely find of the car but it is very useful and I'm not sure what I would replace it with (it's towing abilities are pretty handy too)...
Yesss.... so when I picked it up they had actually replaced the NSF damper despite the squeak coming from the OSF. I raised an eyebrow but said ok, lo and behold it's still squeaking so is booked back in this week. The dealer and booking process is very smooth, however technically they don't seem to be 100% but I'm sticking with them.

For those wishing to extend their mileage, you can also email MileageUpdate@vwfs.co.uk with the following information

Vehicle Registration No:
Agreement in the Name of:
Full address and Postcode:
Monthly payment amount:
Length of agreement:
New total contracted mileage:
Cheers, just taken a punt. I think despite initial misgivings, the drive of the car has improved so I may look to extend when the time comes, will be interesting to see what they come back with and whether it's a realistic quote or based upon our value price.

Now I have a job in the city (of Manchester) my Alltrack pretty much now lives on drive, and the company want me to have a company car for when I occasionally go to customer sites.

I tried calling VWFS to find out if I can hand it back and give them the mileage as requested, but was on hold for ages, passed around, then put on hold forever and gave up, so.....

Does anyone have any idea what I would have to pay if I handed it back at about 17 months into a 24 month lease? It has about 9k miles on it. The full lot?

Roughly 50% of the remaining payments in value, plus any mileage owed at 7.2p per mile.

Thanks.

I am being paid a car allowance and could keep it, but when it rains I park part way to the station and would rather leave a company car all day than my own! biggrin

So at £130 a month, not that much? A company car could take a while to come though - I'm tempted by a Prius eek to keep the BIK as low as possible!.

Yes I got 10k extra miles awhile ago, very easy n think it was about £320 ish iirc
Yup i just paid 3.1p per mile for an extra 10k miles... just waiting until Jan to see if i can extend for another 12 months at the same price...
I've just had a quote back after a two week delay (I requested a fortnight ago) and it's bonkers.

Asked for 20k extra, my price has gone from 129/m to 570/m! Fag packet calc is 8 payments left at 442/m gives around 18p per mile.

Have queried whether this is correct and am waiting to hear back.

You're lucky, I never even managed to speak to anyone about sending mine back. Think I'm going to just keep it til the end of the lease. I am not even doing 100 miles a month now, so a may scrap close to the 10k miles over 2 years, but the DPF may need replacing when it goes back. biggrin

Odd, mine went from £139 to £170 with VWFS...

Yep, last time I looked it was due at 18000 miles.

Had a couple of calls from the local VW dealership, ask when I was bringing it in for a service as it was a year old. Told them I'd see them in about 9 months smile they said it would be preferable to do it on fixed. Yeah right......

They come set on longlife from the factory and lease cars should be left on that.

35psi all round.

Seems to feel right. I think the spec for tyre pressure are on the drivers door pillar. They're not far off what I'm running smile

Returning my car got me thinking - how early will I have to send the car back to avoid having to pay for a service?

At £130 a month, paying 50% of the outstanding months may work out cheaper than having to pay for a service and possibly avoid new tyres.

My thinking is send it back 2 or 3 months early and just get my company car earlier.....

To update - I managed to get hold of VWFS contract department without too much pain this time, and the guy was really helpful. I would have to pay 55% of remaining and pro rata of excess mileage.

An interesting thing he said was that the car may not need a service even if I went full term - it all depends if the car is asking for one - confirm this yourself!
Apparently they expect the first service to be requested between 9k - 18k mile depending on driving history of course.

So with excess mileage pro rata I would be looking at about £6-700 to cancel now.

I may keep it longer, but I was told you can send the car back early even a month before the contact is up.

Interim service due in 500 miles. First quote for what is basically an oil change is £236. Based just outside Halifax. Anyone got any better pricing?
