The Amazing PH Passat Alltrack Thread
Discussion
Thanks for the update Hornet - are you talking about driving in Normal, D mode?
I've not had a letter about a recall though - is it just some of our Alltracks? If mine is due the recall it would be a good excuse to get mine updated.
I'm changing jobs this week and commuting by train, but may end up driving to customer sites more - if the excess was not so low I might be worried.

Does anyone know what the damper spec on a Golf Alltrak is?
I've seen a couple that claim to be riding on Golf R springs, and it removes the Crossover ride height and stops the suspension dive under braking, but wonder how swapping the springs but keeping the stock shocks would work together?

What tyre pressures are you running - I'm sure I've checked my pressures previously, but last night when I looked a the sticker on the driver's door frame, it gave me 2 options for low load, but didn't explain the difference - a google suggests it could be normal and a comfort pressures options, but how will this affect tyre wear? - obviously, being a lease car I'd prefer the lowest tyre wear.
After 18 months of trouble free ownership, this morning I royally firked one of my alloys along a kerb. All surface damage on the outer rim - about 20 CMS in all so definitely not covered under fair wear and tear 😣
I know it's a bit naughty but I could just swap it for the wheel in the boot but do the inspectors check the spare? Any thoughts on the likely charge or anyone know of a decent alloy wheel refurb place near Halifax?

I did something similar a while ago - I will be putting the spare on and hoping for the best - put it on a few weeks early to dirty it up to match! Another question this time regarding replacement tyres as mine are getting close to replacement at 20,000.
The lease document is unclear, but do I have to put like for like replacement boots on - in this case Continental Sport Contact 5s @ £130 per corner.
I'm not sure. I've gone for Nexen N8000s as they are half the price of Contis, get good reviews and are ZR rated. I've been in to VW today and noticed that the Tiguan in the showroom is sitting on Hankooks, so they are not Conti exclusive. I guess I'll find out come hand back time. The lease document is unclear, but do I have to put like for like replacement boots on - in this case Continental Sport Contact 5s @ £130 per corner.

Yup i just paid 3.1p per mile for an extra 10k miles... just waiting until Jan to see if i can extend for another 12 months at the same price...
Remember they seem to have lots of weird rules with this. Can't extend in the first or last 6-months, and only allowed once a year.wemorgan said:
I've never repaired damaged alloys as the return fee is the same or less.
£50-60 typically
Historically it's been £36 per damaged alloy with VWFS. At that price there is literally no point getting it repaired! £50-60 typically

So mine went back in regards the squeak. They've diagnosed it to the OSF damper and it's been replaced. I pick it up on Monday...
My dealer never fixed mine, I find them pretty rubbish tbh and don't have the patience to send it back there again. I'll probably just live with the incessant squeaking/ rattling. In other news, starting to wonder whether we can extend once the lease term is up in June. Not hugely find of the car but it is very useful and I'm not sure what I would replace it with (it's towing abilities are pretty handy too)...
