My only thought is are you comparing like for like in terms of how many miles the engine has on it and the ambient temperatures as both can make a fair difference I understand? I have a manual and I'd expected mid-high 30s on that kind of run - 31 does seem low but 40+ seems exceptionally high also...

Never seen 40 on a run either (DSG Estate).

Best was 39 on a 150 mile run back from Wales. Tired so driving very slow and stead. Mostly 40-60 mph.

Normal Motorway is 35-37 at best. 30 odd at 80mph.

Town - mid 20's at best.

When it's cold. It was in the teens on short journeys (10-18 mpg) of 7 miles.

Most of the time I drive pretty sensible too.

Anyone who drives with a heavy right foot, is going to average sub 30 overall (imo) in the Estate, unless they live on the motorway lol.

Overall i'm at about about 29 MPG average (7K miles - 6 months) which is close to what I was hoping (30) to achieve.

These official figures are a farce and the sooner they are replaced, the better. Would lower peoples expectations too.

I'm averaging 20.3 MPG over the last 7 tanks. Some runs down A roads and motorways with driving hard perhaps 10% per tank.

That's on a DSG hatch with 19's.

I'm now trying my current tank on ECO mode as much as possible to see if it makes any difference at all especially round town. The journeys are all mostly consistent at similar times of day so it will be a fair test.

Sounds like you boys have loads of fun in your cars lol. I used eco once and it was soooo boring I didnt again. Av for the car is 25 in race/indi for 2 years.

Extended mine for 12 more months.

Anyone else tried to put a plate on one of these after leasing it? Been waiting nearly a month to sort it - doing yourself online takes 5 minutes.

Hi all,

I have been offered a 6+23 at £354 for 12,000 miles for a Mk 7 golf R 5dr DSG.

Any Idea how this compares? I'm new to the whole leasing thing..

Can I ask who you received the quote from?

I have a quote of £393 for 10k pa personal non maintained with options of 19" Pretoria alloys, Lapiz blue and voice activation.

Pro nav is too much extra, shame it was not standard, like my dealer thought it would be when I test drive the previous Golf R, last week, before VW opened the order book, released prices and the spec!

Cheers

Is this a 300hp or 310hp one? The newer model is a bit dearer from what I can see online

My quote is for the newer model - they are naming it 310 as in power output, so using that in a search rules out results including the old model.

Spec not changed much from what I can see. Many funders have no figures yet for the new model so I am still collating quotes. Best so far is from All Vehicle Contracts.

Listers Nuneaton, used by DTD, want £547!

Coming from a BMW 335D, I could get a new 530 D MSport with options for that and that is a £45k car!

Shame there are none of those Golf R deals like there were 18 months ago!

Got my extension offer from VWFS, so I am on a £2400 down £179.99 per month 10k per annum lease which ends in June.

To extend for 12 months up to 25k miles total (I've done less than 12k to date) they want £215.51 per month and £60 admin fee, and I keep the 6p per mile excess as well which will be handy if I have more commuting to do by car. That's not unreasonable, I think I'm going to extend. There really is nothing around that's anywhere near as good as the R at the moment, looking at used cars I'd need to think about a loan to get anything nice. Another 12 months with the Red Rocket for me. Love this car, it does everything I need it to.

Are you comparing your mpgs manual hatch with miles on it to a dsg estate which is new? Just wondered?

Personal lease 6+35 £423 month including maintenance (which includes tyres!) which I think is quite good based on quotes I am receiving on the new Golf R 310, albeit nothing like the deals that were available on the last model.

Main thing it saves me £100/month on my 335D Touring

Options are Lapiz Blue
19" Pretorias
Voice activation (for the standard Sat Nav)

Select Vehicle Contracts Reading

Most quotes back but some funders have not produced figures for this car yet.

DTD put me in touch with dealer who wanted £547/month!

Anyone else had some good quotes, let me know - please share.

Good shout. I never thought about extending. My lease finishes in May an I am at a loss what to replace it with for similar commercials. The M2 needs a stable buddy!

Sure this has been covered already, but any decent deals coming out on the facelift R yet? Surely they are to be expected like the last one?

I spoke to my dealer (my lease is up in a couple of months) and he has no deals.

Ours is 26mpg when I drive it, 31mpg when my wife drives it! Averages out to 29 overall.

Same here - 21k miles, 5 door DSG has averaged 29.1 mpg. Mostly a 35 mile round trip commute with long runs whenever possible. Largely gave up using Eco mode as there was no tangible difference on economy. My wife commented on the way the car ran away with her in Eco. OK on the motorway but even then it reminds me of when I used to knock my '61 Beetle out of gear to save a few drops of juice as a 17 year old. I.E. the revs drop off and there's a noticeable pause (not turbo!) when you pick up the accelerator again. Agree with the other comments on the ACC. It's pretty good in stop start traffic - to a point and fine on sparsely populated motorways roads such as M6 North of Preston but can be frustrating. Front Assist can be plain scary - I have had a few incidents when following vehicles have nearly piled into my boot as it takes over whilst I steer round a car turning off!

Some fairly decent deals at the moment for the pre-facelift Golf R and Estate as VW shift old stock.

Not anywhere near what people were seeing last year - but if you are looking for a 300bhp hatch/wagen right now there isn't much else out there.

I have not seen the car inside or out. I must be bonkers but I haven't seen a bad review and having owned a R32 DSG a few years back I don't think I'm going to be hugely disappointed. (It won't ever sound as good of course.....)
