Just checked my order status and it's showing in transit and estimate 10 days away but I don't want it until my BMW goes back 3rd week in June.
After seeing this post I got an insurance quote and please to see it's coming out £20 cheaper than my BMW at £259, need to look for gap insurance now.
Can I ask who with ? I've only used confused.com, but thinking about trying chris knott, flux and a few others not on comparison sites. After seeing this post I got an insurance quote and please to see it's coming out £20 cheaper than my BMW at £259, need to look for gap insurance now.

I got 3 points for speeding last month so that seems to have added around £70 to the quotes which is strange as I drive slower now!

I had my tires replaced by VW at the first service (19,000 miles). I went from the original Bridgestones to Goodyear Eagle F1 (Assymetrical 2 or maybe 3 I can't remember exactly) at £400 fitted. I could've got away with another months wear but £400 seemed like a reasonable deal, esp. as it meant I didn't have to bother shopping around and taking it in again a month later to get them changed. As usual I didn't manage to get a penny off the price (I'm not a good haggler, I think people can tell my heart's not in it!)
They feel much the same as the originals but having said that I don't really drive fast enough round corners to notice the difference. No difference in road noise or anything like that though.
The only unusual thing was that at the time of changing, the front tires had 2.5mm tread left but the rears were down to 1.2mm. I don't know why this is, it's presumably a mostly FWD car with the rears only coming in to play if the fronts lose grip?
The guy at VW tried to tell me the drivetrain was rear-biased, but I don't see how that can be right...
Thanks...my rears seem fine, it's rear biased if you boot it out of corners regularly They feel much the same as the originals but having said that I don't really drive fast enough round corners to notice the difference. No difference in road noise or anything like that though.

Insurance.. (not sure if this is the right section but its for the golf R)
Looking to lease a new R so decided to get some insurance quotes. I know its very specific, but i live low crime rate, 20yr ncb, no claim no points, you get the idea.
Getting quotes of £550, where if i change car to previous model its half the price, £275.
I've not paid insurance like that since I was 18.
Just wondering if other people have seen huge jumps in price with the new R ?
Same situation here. Currently have an Octavia VRs estate on lease but was thinking of trying to grab one of the next Golf R estate lease deals. Mid 40's male, full ncb, no points and bets quote was just under £500. Quote for a Golf GTi was just over £300 and my Octavia was £260 last year (with quotes coming in at £285 for this coming year).Looking to lease a new R so decided to get some insurance quotes. Maybe I wont be having that mid-life crisis after all!

Dealer is sending my paperwork when the car arrives in the UK. Not sure if that means at Port or dealership tho.
Normally when it's at the port ... that's what they did with my Scirocco anyway Cheapest quote was £316 for me and my wife. I'm also mid-40s, car on the drive in North Yorks with 6 years NCB; so not a lot more than the 14 year old Jag I'm currently running.
Where's the best place for GAP insurance these days?

When I ordered the facelift R insurance was around 480. 5 weeks later and ready to get insurance in place for delivery its jumped to 550! Same details, 7 years ncb 25 years old no previous, how does that work!
Same thing happened to me. Before ordering mine back in April I got a quote for around £360 with LV, a big deciding factor on actually ordering the car! Now due to pick it up on Wednesday so checked insurance again with LV and it's gone up to £620! I phoned them up and all I got was, 'Well that's how insurance works sir, it goes up and down.' I was so mad I even contacted the Financial Ombudsman but got absolutely nowhere. Got it down to £450 with Aviva and can't wait to collect it now!Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
