Mine came today. 92 miles on the clock, gorgeous looking motor. Put a few miles on today in Eco mode, the ride is amazing, very comfortable compared to my old e60 530d.
I'm running it in for the first 1000 miles so not revving above 4000 miles yet. Lovely exhaust note to it, looking forward to a cold start tomorrow.
Here's a pic, will take some moody basement pics tomorrow in the work car park.

Ah ok, it's only as my friends Golf estate is red and was one of the last R's before they closed the books smile
Unless it was only on hatchbacks? I definitely recall seeing it had changed on the configurator

Do love Lapiz blue - although I do also like the white (except mine needs a wash already after 600 motorway miles in a week).

Be interesting to see how people are finding the r - also a good forum is www.vwroc.com - lots of tips etc on there.

Mine hasn't been out of normal mode (well says normal top left hand side of radio) - I guess this is the mode the car is in. Haven't been in eco mode - quite liking the stop start, mpg so far about 37 - although as said - that's lots of motorway - this will go down going forward.

Exhaust getting a bit quieter on the motorway now - first few miles could hear it quite a bit - unless I am just getting use to it.

Say bye bye to my astra on Saturday - been a faithful servant - but completely different to the r!

Does anyone know the situation with the strobing indicators? I thought they were standard on the 7.5 R, my friends that was delivered yesterday doesn't have them? I look online and nothing is particularly clear apart from a load of people talking about a retro fit on the mk7.

strobing indicators only on hatchback - unless its a 7 and not a 7.5. Estate are just normal indicators (well led).

Still some leases on the 7 knocking around.

Oh that is disappointing!

Have the prices on the MK7 leases come down at all?

I know it's a reflection on my own inadequacies but this disappointed me too. No idea why the estate cant have the swoopy lights too.

Could they be coded? If they're the same actual fitting then it's highly likely.

The smaller screen Discovery Nav became standard on the pre-facelift about 6 months before the facelift was released, presumably to provide an incentive to shift older stock. Before that, it was an option.

I specced it on mine (Along with the Dynaudio) as I thought it was a massive oversight not to have a decent Nav system built in to the highest-end Golf.

Another thing to watch out for is that only the later Discovery Navs (from about mid-2016 onwards) are Apple Carplay/Android Auto compatible and it was an option on the basic Nav (but you can enable it for £100 at the dealer). Well worth having as then you can use Google Maps which is free and always updated, plus it's great for podcasts and audiobooks.
Was the basic nav worth it? I had a play with one yesterday, it was very sluggish and clunky to use, compared to my mates GTI with the pro nav anyway. I guess if it had car play you can just use google maps as you said.

I doubt they will be the same fitting, I would imagine that the car itself doesn't have control of each individual LED, and that the light unit will have an inbuilt controller for the dynamic indicators, and that the standard indicators are just wired as per normal. I really doubt that the indicator unit will have each LED controlled by the car ECU or by a local CAN node. Electrical engineering experience: None

I have confirmation that my r estate will be arriving early next week. I still haven't driven one so will be interesting to see how it compares to my just departed 335d.

For anyone who's bought gap insurance, what amount of cover did you go for?

The basic Discovery Nav is quite decent, I find. But it's not as up-to-date as Google Maps and doesn't have the nice 'cloud' integration that Google has (it uses some sort of rubbish VW online system which is so unintuitive and tricky to use that I didn't even bother to learn the ins and outs).

On the positive side, the OEM unit does integrate with the DIS in between the dials so you get directions coming up in the instrument cluster, which Google maps obviously doesn't do. I think the 7.5 can display its maps in the digital display.

My mate has a S3 with the Virtual Cockpit, it's amazing, very nice bit of kit. I like the directions on the dash, I retrofitted a Sat Nav to my Fabia years ago and always missed that bit.

You have assisted in my hunt for a car though. When I tick the nav filter it only shows it if the car had it as an option, so all the newer cars with it as standard didnt show up! There's loads I've been missing lol

Clearly up to you, but you really don't need to run the engine in. Sure, warm it up properly, but enjoy it - give it some revs once it's warm and it will do nothing but ensure everything beds in quickly. Much more important to go easy on the corners for a few hundred miles to scrub the tyres in.

The audi virtual cockpit is a step up from the golf one. I don't understand why VW as a group has different virtual cockpits, I guess because you have paid a bit more for the audi (although think it comes with leather as standard) you get a few nicer toys, whether virtual cockpit on the golf is a standard item.

Am getting use to the car now, looking forward to putting my foot down a little bit more now, tyres should be run in after 600 motorway miles.

Tried eco for the first time this morning, think I will leave it in normal day to day. Haven't tried sport mode yet, will possibly try at the weekend. Am loving the dsg. Does take a little of getting use to it, but very impressed with it. Just have to work on my starts when the stop start kick in as I am a bit jerky at the minute, think I have the foot on the accelerator while the car is restarting.

My oil service is due in 19 days, does anyone know if I can service it later than this?
