Although the missus would be happier if I got something slower. Doesn't like the quickness of the R.
My wife loves the speed of it

What is the cost of a new R engine and it's fitting - a fellow PH has overrev his Rbeyond 8.5k revs and engine is fubar.

It's a lease car too 3months to go. What options does he have? Stick shift. He was driving from a 70mph to a 50mph apparently going 5th to 4th to be in the mid range of revs in 4th ready to go but accidentally selected 2nd or even possibly 1st.

His user name is Bennie

Mine asked for oil this weekend (16k miles in so not bad). As it'll need servicing soon just put in a litre and all seems well again.

How long are people generally making tyres last ? mine still seem fine.....

Had my R Estate serviced not long ago (13K). Was speaking to the chap about tyres and he said I still had loads left.

Reckon I should be able to get to 20K easy.

Gonna **** me off though if I have to change tyres a couple of months before it goes back lol.

I've had the R a couple of weeks now, really loving it. It is such a complete car. Taking the family down to Cornwall with a boot full of kit - excellent. Commuting - excellent. B road blast - excellent. It really is so comfortable cruising on the motorway with adpative cruise. Artificial exhaust sound is gimmicky but fun. My only quibble is the short range, I am filling up too often.

Lots of people have pulled a face when I told them I was switching the BMW for a Golf, but for me part of the pleasure is the Q car status.

depends on your mileage, I mean this won't be like a 2.0 derv.

My average mpg is currently 35.94 mpg, in my astra it was about 42 mpg. Best mpg 53 mpg worst 32.1 these figures are for the astra.

So for me its good. Certainly for the performance, my best tank 43.71 mpg, my worst 28.4 mpg, tbh I am expecting mpg to go down when winter arrives. Total fuel cost so far £662.

It does have a smallish fuel tank - although to be expected, but if coming from say a 5 series estate with 70 litre tank it would be a shock.

Think that's going to be my issue too - although 80% of my journeys are on motorways, I don't think I can expect to get 24k miles out of the tyres so it'll go back with some fresh ones. Will see what they say when it gets it's first (and hopefully only) service in my tenure in about 2k miles.

I'm loving the range.

My RX8 was lucky to give me over 200 miles to a fill, so 370-400 is great! biggrin

Got 40+ on a trip from Chepstow to Farnborough yesterday.

400 miles to a tank sounds great. Currently got a 1.8 petrol zafira and it only does 33.6mpg and is no fun at all but does the job of school run / dog wagon fine. Looking forward to the golf more each day though

That's on a long gentle run (but appreciated there, no penalty for having a fast car when you just need transport!), more like 320 in around town use, but still much better than the Mazda!

On reflection, I probably got more like 450 miles as I went to Plymouth and back with some driving around while there and a little left in the tank and Google Maps says it's 212 each way!

I got 350 to the tank on a recent weekend to Devon. I will probably get slightly less on a day to day basis.

Mine's nowhere near that because all of my driving is in Bristol so my avg speed is about 25-30 mph max.

Did an eco drive home tonight along the A37 and got 33 Mpg but fk me it was boring.

Happily I have a costco card with work, plus there's a station at Avonmouth so I fill up on their SUL at 114p

Most of my miles (if not number of trips) are long motorway or dual carriageway journeys.

I find that Eco is perfect for that, you get great MPG, but enough responsiveness to whip past people when you need to (the paddles are always there if you need them).

Really, using anything but Eco on a motorway journey just seems like a good way to burn fuel and/or lose your license (I usually stick the limiter on too, to stop me straying above err, 70, officer).

Anyone else feel that the alloys are a bit Max Power?

They are quite loud but the car needs it as the rest is so toned down I think it works very well , you can of course choose the Pretoria 19" option

They’re just passable for me, but far from the best. They’re also a pain to clean because of that channel that runs around the inside edge behind the spokes.

I’d have definitely had the 19” Pretorias, but £995 on a lease is pointless, plus the possible need for DCC.

My handover is booked for 2nd, should look exactly like yours, will miss the pano roof on my GTD but i' sure the extra horses will compensate!
