The Golf R lease thread
Discussion
For anyone who might be purchasing (or thinking about it) their 2016 estate R, I have just got a quote from VWFS.
Boggo white R DSG (all estates are) estate 15k miles, online they quoted a provisional £21,200 and the official emailed quote arrived at £22,300.
So total for me would be £28500 with the £6200 lease cost included - not bad, but I think I will pass on it.
Difficult decision, as I have really enjoyed my time with the car, but I think I will sit on my hands for a while and see what pops up in the next few months.
Going to give it back 6 weeks early and avoid the final service charge, tyres look pretty good too with 3.5-4mm all round.

Considering a boggo standard r 2016 - 65 plate are about £21500 + not the greatest offer. It seems to me roughly what you would get one for from a VW dealer - although some are up for silly prices (even bog standard).Boggo white R DSG (all estates are) estate 15k miles, online they quoted a provisional £21,200 and the official emailed quote arrived at £22,300.

Like yo I think its a good car - but I doubt I will be buying mine at the end of the lease - its got a amazing turn of pace - and is good value for money - but I do find it a bit dull - it is the fastest car I have owned - but not the best for fun.

Yes, very fast and 4wd makes it very capable in all conditions, but RWD M135 it replaced felt quicker and more of an 'event' when it was driven with a bit of spirit. M135 Did feel more likely to chuck me out of a wet roundabout backwards though!
Are you lads doing the first service late to avoid paying the second year service? My 1st year service is due one year after i got the car delivered.
I am with Lexautolease who do the finance for the deal, not sure if i can delay it on purpose to avoid the 2nd year service.
Also only paid for 5k miles a year. 14 pence a mile for penalty charges. Will have done 500 over that at the end of this month, Worth calling them to see if they can do anything about it? 500 over a year isnt much so thinking just keep with the current and pay the charges.

I'd just pay the excess at the end, if it's only going to be £140.I'm also certainly going to trip over my total by the end of the second year by a similar amount.
Giving it back early (to avoid the 2nd service cost) would also reduce the total mileage...

Well, after only 10 months, mines gone.
Thieves broke in last week, took the keys to the Golf and left everything else so we were clearly targeted. We live in a rural village in N. Yorkshire so never thought it would happen to us, we do however live not too far from the A1 where the car was spotted on ANPR heading south at 2.15am, disappearing from the cameras near the airport in Leeds (lots of warehouses and lock-ups in that area).
Clearly it was seen and followed as they left everything in my office (laptops etc.) which is right next to the front door but you don't expect that kind of thing round here.
Still, could have been worse, at least they got the keys and left - we didn't know anything until 8am when my wife was going out on the school run.
VW leasing offered me a like-for-like replacement, I declined. My 7 year old was pretty shaken up by it and I don't want to have it happen again so I'll go for something a bit less desirable to undesirables next. Maybe it's time to scratch the GT86 itch.

Ah, that's poop! As you say though, could have been worse and as weird as it sounds, that was the best outcome for this style of theft.Thieves broke in last week, took the keys to the Golf and left everything else so we were clearly targeted. I agree too with the "no more R's please" - Shame it didn't end in a fiery single car crash on the A1 though!
Hope your little one is okay and can move on from this without too much stress.

We had an attempt to take my R a few weeks ago involved them quietly attempting to get in through the back door but couldn't so they moved to the front and tried to kick it in, this was at 4am while we slept upstairs.
My 11yo daughter will still not go upstairs alone when it's dark.
Mines was bought only had it 5 months sold it a few days later back to the dealer now got a 1.8 A4.
