Download google maps app on your phone, pair your phone to car and bingo, does it automatically.

Only saves the last location where the car was connected to the phone. Try driving the car round the corner and leave your phone at home. Car will still how as being outside your house.

If serious people are prepared to break into an occupied house to take the car then fk that right off.

We’ve been burgled a couple of times - once when we were alseep upstairs. Next morning when I went downstairs it was a slow motion realisation of what had happened (no car theft) I was literally shaking a combination of fear anger etc. The Mrs hated living there from that point onwards (so did I) to the point within a year we’d sold and moved.

I don’t want to think about a scenario whereby someone breaks in now (3 young kids) - I ensure I leave our car keys in clear view plus my wallet next to them so if anyone did then help yourself you’ll have zero challenge - try to come upstairs however and I will not let you past

Off topic, but have just ordered an Audi S4 to replace the Golf when it goes back.

Ordered exactly 2 years (to the day).

Nice. You got your Golf from Lancaster MK too didn't you?
I got a message from David East the other day just before the S4 deals dropped. Did you use Audi MK for the deal?

I got mine from Kettering VW. I tried to speak to David East, but he was too slow in responding.
I used Eastbourne Audi for the deal.

Another one signed up for an S4 to replace my R estate which is due to go back in September. ( Lapiz blue, 10 k miles per year, £245 per month)

Just for info on the Golf, tried to reduce my mileage with VWFS after a year when I realised I was going to be way under the 20k miles for the two years. Price was going to increase to £246 per month to reduce mileage 6k over the term! Plus the £60 admin fee.
Didn't bother with the change.

Phoned VWFS last Wednesday to get a quote to keep the car for a 3rd year. (Spotted the S4 deal on Thursday and signed up straight away.) Email from VWFS today offering a 3rd year in the R for £223 per month, sticking with 20k for 36 months as I'm only on 12.5k miles at the moment. Pretty good deal to keep the Golf I think but I'm looking forward to the Audi, quite enjoy having a new car every couple of years.

Interestingly the VW rep on the phone was keen to point out I could buy my Golf once I was in the last 60 days of my current lease, he even gave me a number to call to get a price. Wonder if they are quite keen to sell them on rather than take them back? Or maybe they don't want to come all the way up to Aberdeen to collect it.

Hi,

In the market for a Golf R, leasing looks to be the best option.

I’ve contacted a few dealers and going to phone tomorrow for further details but what’s regarded as the best deal at present.

I’d be after a 5dr Golf R DSG over 3 years fully maintained. Looking to swap my current car in September.

I’ve been quoted prices of approx £320/month and that’s 9+35 fully maintained 8k per year. Is it possible to get this under £300?

Thanks!

For you lot that have your R going back in September/October (as do I) but are signing up for the S4 deals, how are you going to handle the crossover period? Wouldn’t delivery on the S4’s be around Jun/July therefore meaning you have a few months left on the Golf R lease? Do you just I’ve it back or have to pay the remainder of the lease? I was going to leave it until 3 or 4 months before lease is up, but if there’s a way around it then I’d be interested to know.

The company I've ordered from are offering to hold the S4 until 31/12/2018, so you shouldn't have any issues with crossover.

How are people getting on with the estate r?

Mines up to nearly 9k miles - I paid for 10k miles a year so may go over slightly - not by much though (got car beginning of June 17).

So far a good car - I wouldn't say I love it though - if I'm honest have a bit more of a giggle in my missus 1.2 pug 208 as it likes to be revved and needs to be revved - bit more satisfying to drive.

Saying that though - quick flick to sport mode and all is forgiven, but it does pick up speed very quickly with a small flex of the right foot. it really is effortless - but not the most fun car I have owned - need to take it to wales without the family to properly enjoy.

MPG tbh couldn't be happier for a car with the performance it has - roughly averaged about 32 mpg.

Hate the fake noise though - thats my pet hate with the car - it doesn't need it in my opinion, and in the estate you do get some nice exhaust noise.

Will be interesting to see how it shapes up against the s4 - as potentially could be my next car (its on the list)

I’m more than happy with mine, would happily have another although haven’t seen any deals close to mine for ages (£215/month).

As for fake noise, just turn it off

Does this have to be carried out at a VW dealer? I have an R hatch on the way.

No, just alter the Individual drive mode setting so that everything is set to “Race”, and the exhaust is set to “Eco”.

The fake noise is always on but at different levels. So in Eco it will be very quiet, Comfort or Normal will be a little louder and then in Race it will be at it's loudest setting.

You can turn it off completely but this requires a trip to the dealer or a tool like VCDS, ODB11 or Carista. It's very easy to do yourself if you have the tools.
