I also have a white R estate which was going back in June. I asked VWFS to quote for a one year extension and to my surprise it has come back £32pm cheaper than my amortised price of £269pm.
So if you're due to give one back and struggling with a replacement like myself, then its well worth asking..
Yeah, I got a quote back today on mine that's due to go back in October - For a 6 month extension capped at 25k miles it's gone from £215 down to £171, but a 12 month extension at 25k takes it up to £280. Still a good price, but not sure I want it for 3 years due to the extra costs of servicing / tyres and the MOT.So if you're due to give one back and struggling with a replacement like myself, then its well worth asking..

My Golf R Estate is due back in June. I have asked for an extension of 12 months @ 10k miles per year. Gone up from £175 to £238. Bit steep - not decided what to do yet.
Question if anyone knows please - would the car still be under warranty for the 3rd year?
£238 a month to do 833 miles a month in a Golf R is steep? 28p a mile. Bargain IMO. Question if anyone knows please - would the car still be under warranty for the 3rd year?
And yes, three year warranty.
Just to finish off my Golf R ownership - mine was the one stolen a few pages back.
Car was never recovered, insurance (Axa - slow and terrible customer service but at least they paid up without any quibbles) and VWFS settled on a price without my having to do anything, VWFS drove the process.
I was offered a replacement but owing to the circumstances (targeted burglary) I declined and asked to terminate the agreement.
VWFS have offset my April lease payment (£304) against my excess (£300) and are paying me the difference - this is despite the settlement being achieved half way through April which I was pleasantly surprised about, so thumbs up for VWFS.

By the sounds of it, those extension figures must be down to whoever you get on the phone and how generous they are, as they are all still through vwfs surely?
Why surely? I've leased a number of VWs, last one was financed via Arval, and before that Network. It's not a given (though I suspect it's likely), that he's talking about VWFS.Is anyone who’s returning a Golf R estate in the next few months tempted by the A6 avant 1.8 black edition deals?
From centralukvehicleleasing:
Audi A6 Avant 1.8 TFSi Black EDTN 5dr S-TRNC
2 year Contract Hire
5,000 Miles Per Annum
Initial Rental £2000 + vat
23 x Monthly Rental: £239.99 + VAT
8k £245.99 + vat
10k £249.99 + vat
Factory order 10-12 weeks
None in Stock
Can order now for September new reg
Key Features
20" alloy Wheels, Privacy glass, Black Styling Pack, Bose Surround Sound, Full Leather Front Sports Seats,
Technology Pack = £10 + vat a month
I’m in two minds about this, worried the 1.8 is going to feel very slow coming from the R (0-60 8.2 vs 5.1). Should be nicer inside with the leather seats as standard & would probably go for tech pack as well.
Monthlies would be a bit of a jump as well, paying £215 at the minute on the R. Not sure whether to jump on this A6 deal or wait for something else to come along/extend the R for another year, it’s not due back until 1st Nov.

Would be a big step backwards IMO. It’s going to feel hugely slower, and as the current A6 is a run out model all the tech is going to be generations behind the Golf. Sure the interior is nice and it has an Audi badge, but once you get past that you’re left with a very ordinary car.
Thanks for the response, think you are absolutely right! Will give this one a miss. Rutter said:
My next car is a 220ps passat R line estate and I worry it will be a big step back, i'd imagine that A6 would be even worse, as said its due for replacement soon.
Yeah I know what you mean, the R is so good & was an absolute bargain price wise (£6.5k over the 2 years). Just a shame the current pricing is so high as would happily just go into a new lease on the facelift model, quick look around shows that’s more like £10.5k over 2 years currently.

10.5K seems way over, depending on the deal. Even with 1+23 maintained & 15K miles I can't get it to 10.5KJust a shame the current pricing is so high as would happily just go into a new lease on the facelift model, quick look around shows that’s more like £10.5k over 2 years currently.

Replacing my Golf R Manual with an S4 - will be a different proposition but one i'm looking forward to as I think it will suit me even better.
I very nearly went for an S4 before going with my R - the S4 was a chunk dearer than I wanted to spend at the time but I would be very interested to know your thoughts on going from one to the other as it's something I may well do in the future when my R goes back.I've just done this and for me the S4 is a totally different experience to drive compared to the golf.
The Golf felt very nimble in comparison to the S4 on country roads but the S4 is much more everywhere else. I'm still getting used to the auto box as it's my first and am learning to use the paddles to cue up overtakes and engine braking down hills as it wasn't my ideal choice but i'm growing to like it.
I'm still getting used to how large the S4 feels and how comfortable it is even on bumpy roads. The V6 engine sounds lovely and i'm getting a few less mpg to the Golf but it runs on 95RON instead of 98 for the R so not too much difference in cost.

Just had some quotes to extend my golf R estate. It finishes in July this year. I had one of the £216 per month 10k per year leases.
6 month extension for 7k Miles £170 a month! Bargain.
12 month extension 12k Miles £280!
6 month is a no brainer at that cost!
Nice! Hope they quote me similar, mine goes back in Nov officially and don’t think you can quote to extend until you are in the last 3 months?6 month extension for 7k Miles £170 a month! Bargain.

Guess you would need to factor in the cost of the 2nd year service into that cost as well? Still a no brainier at that price though.
