We are coming to the end of our lease having already extended for a year and want to buy but there is about a £2k difference in the purchase price from BCA between us being registered owner and VWFS being register owner. £17977 from BCA and £19700 from VWFS part of BCA. (Car is just under 3 years old with 26k miles)

As the car is owned by VWFS as part of the lease, is this simply VW taking their profit and has anyone had any luck negotiating this down?

Also what happens with respect to any marks or repairs required - do we have to pay for these if we purchase of do we just get the car as is as sure;ly these also affect the value but don't want to pay for VWFS double dipping!

Keen to hear from anyone who has purchased at the end of a VWFS lease.

Not sure I follow. I was only ever offered a price by vwfs. I assume they wouldn’t do any inspection and that they wouldn’t therefore charge for damage repairs albeit I assume they would still charge for any additional mileage..?

I don't understand this part about registered owners. If offer from BCA is better, just buy it from them. They will be trader so car will still have one previous owner (VWFS). I got letter from BCA welcoming me to purchase my car at the end of lease and to check price on their website. I extended the lease, so it wasn't an option, but will see what they will send me next year.

Drove one today - with the 19” wheels and no DCC.
Felt absolutely fine.
Mrs and son were sat in the back and said if felt far more comfortable ride wise than my M2 Comp.
First time I’ve driven a VW and was very impressed by it.

So she’s specced one in black (or red...) with just the pan roof, black mirrors, 19” wheels and something else I can’t now remember.
Looks like we’ll be buying rather than leasing - lease with the options and 15k miles per year looks to be more £’s than a purchase.
Negotiated about 15% off list, plus some stuff thrown in, and in all reality she’ll do nearer 18-20k miles per year so the lease will cost even more (and we’d like to possibly change it in 2 - 3years anyway)
Just finished 2 years and 18,000 miles with one on 18s with no DCC and by the end the ride quality was really bugging me. I was spending too much time trying to dodge the worst bits of road to relax and the brittle ride was the main reason I did not renew it and they offered me another 12 months at just £200 per month. Just my experience of course and we all expect different things but I would be very concerned with 19s.

We got the letter from BCA and link to the website (www.purchasemyvehicle.co.uk).

When you fill in the details you have to click whether we are the owner or not. If you click yes you fill in the rest of the details and get a valuation figure (£17977).

If you click no it asks you to "Please call the driver sales team on 01625 417991 or Email VWFSDriverSales@bca-group.com with your registration"
Call and they email back a valuation (£19700).

So with a lease from a VW dealer through VWFS i'm assuming they own the car so we have to take their (higher) valuation?

Thanks for this.
As I said, my initial drive seemed fine but I did feel the odd jitter over a few not so well surfaced roads.
In all honesty, my Mrs isn’t one to feel the nuances between a good and bad ride, but did say it felt nicer than the M2...

As she’ll be doing mostly motorway driving I’m not sure she’ll see the benefit of paying for the DCC.
It’s a difficult one to get around - as you say it started to bug you but only after some time with the car.
We either pay for DCC now (and knowing her she’ll not even use it!) or risk it without...

19s and no DCC, never thought the ride is hard myself. Obviously subjective.

In the 5-6 mile drive I had, I didn’t find it any worse than most cars I’ve driven with 19’s fitted.

Has anyone successfully negotiated down the purchase price from VWFS at the end of the lease?

I bought a new 7R over 3 years ago with 19s and no DCC and obviously didn't think it hard enough so fitted a set of KW's finestbiggrin

Subjective like you say.

I'm now in a Clubsport with 18s and DDC and to be honest I'm underwhelmed with the DDC.

I think I might see what used options are knocking about rather than extending my lease another year. It'll be up to £350/mo (from £311) for the final year and I'd be quite happy to find one around 2 years old with some more options on it I think...

My 2 year lease is due to expire at the end of August and I have extended for 6 months with the monthly cost reduced from £231 to £185 with annual mileage (8,000 pa) inceased on a pro-rata basis.

I didn't negotiate the price - that is the latest quote I have received although I think the quotes do change depending on how close you are to expiry (I'm 11 days away!).

I meant to purchase the car outright rather than extend the lease.
We already extended it once and the cost went up from the £215 we were paying to £258 for another 12 months/ 5,000miles.
We required again this week for another 12 months and 5,000 or 10,000 miles and price was over £400 - hence looking at purchase.

Interestingly Arval have now changed their tune - there is an option to buy the car at the end of the lease via BCA. They can't give me a figure until I'm within 90 days of the end of the lease (so back end of October for me) but has anyone else had a figure from BCA for their Arval Golf R that would give me an idea of how competitive they're likely to be?

I get 43 mpg driving cross country from Norwich to Yorkshire. When there are less roundabouts I get 45. Obviously when pressing on or shorter journeys it’s not as good.
Im struggeling to get 38 in mine. It's only a month old, so maybe thats it. My route to work which is 60km of Autobahn with cruise set to 120 so i would have expected better. But i guess if your cross-country route is a roads and is closer to 100km/h then it makes sense.

Yep I am generally stuck at 60 mph or below (under 100 kph)

Couple of cheap second hand ones would do!
