The Golf R lease thread
Discussion
In other news, my 3 year 7.5 estate lease got collected by BCA today, only 9 weeks after the lease finished...
Couple of great guys turned up, made constant jokes about the amount of fuel I left in the car (20 mile range!)
There were the usual chips and marks for a 3 year old vehicle and a couple of marks on the alloys but the guy was really fair and waved all charges. I think a bit of humour and the offer of a drink goes a long way when dealing with people.
Down to 1 car now for the forseeable future as we just don't need a second car. I will miss the Golf as it did everything that was asked of it, it just wasn't that engaging...

Still got mine - for some reason VWFS have extended mine to June next year (and no one knows why!).Couple of great guys turned up, made constant jokes about the amount of fuel I left in the car (20 mile range!)

Just got back from germany - did a average of 41 mpg - I didn't hang around in Germany (although 4 accidents on autobahn ruined the journey) but I think the 62 mph limit in Holland meant I clawed back some fuel savings.
Awaiting VWFS to say if my contract does finish on 6th October like I asked - or if it is 6th June 2021 that it says online!
I ended up buying my 2.5 year old 7.5 estate this week.
Per earlier posts the offer price from bca went up slightly. I managed to negotiate it down slightly. I need a car and so have gone for it. With covid job threats I may have to sell it before Xmas should I not find clients with money.
I ended up paying £19750. I haven’t seen 2018 estates at this price online.

Not a Golf but im leasing my 2nd Scirocco R , this time on a 3 year lease . Ends October, but have been offered an informal extension on same terms for another 6 months which is a no brainer. Checked purchase price with BCA / VWFS out of interest and was offered £19300 which I thought wasnt bad . Mines on a 2017 with 26k miles currently

Will you need to MOT it?£19300 seems quite average v autotrader adverts.

New Golfs are around 40K right it seems insane for what they are. Does anyone have current experience with what the deposit and monthly payments would be on an R?
I’d say that there aren’t any ‘deals’ so it’s going to be £5k down and £450 a month ie not worth it to lease. Hopefully a deal will come and they will be maybe £2k down and £250 a month before long. Gazzab said:

I kept requesting a quote to extend into the 4th year on my scirrocco R , shaving 1k miles off each time as the quotes were ok but around £70 more than Im paying now. Finally got a good deal and managed to get it down to only £5 more than what im paying now .
I also got a better deal in writing to purchase vs the same online quote request by £800, so I think VWFS are under a lot of pressure at the moment
VW Scirrocco R 26k miles 2017 plate - Quoted £18400 to purchase which sits in the lower end of the private sale range

I bought a Golf R in July, from a local car supermarket place, registered December 2015, 20,235 miles, as close to immaculate as I could have hoped.
I went on to VW UK's website to set up a Service Plan, and when I input the registration number a message appeared to say that the car already had a Service Plan, and telling me to contact my local VW dealer.
An exchange of emails later, and it transpired that the car did indeed have a Service Plan, and there was a major service unclaimed.
It seems that the first "owner" bought the car on a VWFS lease, ticked the box on the order form for a Service Plan, and didn't use one of the services.
Result! I had the service done a couple of weeks ago.

Anyone noticed there R back up for sale - seems very strong prices at the moment!
I bought mine - just checked autotrader and there is one at a dealer (grey estate same year and similar mileage) for £2.5k more than I paid bca / vwfs. Not sure if that means strong prices though. gazza5 said:

Yup mines was up at auction with a load of others last week, didn't sell though so is up again next week surprised they haven't put it in the dealer network as it looks mint and I only put 12k on it.i bought mine - the price offered was lower than We Buy Any Car offered so seemed a steal at the time , and got me out of the leasing black hole of lockdown. Now have it as a holding place for the deposit while I look for an E63, don't think it is losing too much this way.
