Question for those leasing (or anyone that knows)

Couple of weeks ago some censored scraped the cupra in a carpark while pulling out of the space next to me.

Pics attached...

Im just wondering what my options are here - will a smart-repair (chipsaway etc) be able to fix it? - or is it worth leaving and just accepting the fine when returning (I think the VWFS charge is £140ish for bumper damage although i cant remember where i saw the list of charges)
Personally I'd leave it - that's if you're happy to live with it looking like that. VWFS charges are very reasonable imo. Chances are you'll get something similar happen when you've paid to repair it - sod's law!

I've got a bizarre key type scratch on my rear bumper, so frustrating as I have been parking at the back of car parks, away from other vehicles. I'll get it repaired because i'm anal about these things.

Feel pretty lucky to have got a BE of the Cupra 290. Seems Seat just have a standard Cupra 300 with all optional add-ons at a much increased cost.

Yeah it does, in comfort I'm sure the engine is set to 'comfort' rather than ECO. Not entirely sure what the difference (if any) between these modes would be.
Exactly as Jonno says, the car will still show as being in Cupra mode if it was on before turning off - but the engine mode reverts to 'comfort' will all other settings staying as is. It's the same if you have 'Cupra' as the engine mode in individual too - it will revert to comfort on start up. My normal routine is to just either fanny around plugging my phone in and waiting for the car to allow me to press the 'Cupra' button to bring the mode menu up, or I drive off and wait till the end of my road and hit the stop/stat button and Cupra at the same time - then select Cupra or Individual.

Hope everyone is still enjoying their cars! I've had mine (290 SC manual) since November and done over 5000 miles but I'm yet to hear any of the pops and bangs that everyone speaks of! I occasionally hear the fart noise but that is it. Maybe I'm driving it wrong! Or SEAT fitted the old exhaust... haha

I'm finding the engine speaker sound so invasive, has any tried removing it?

Start engine; cold start. Wait for the ever so slow computer to boot up, change to Cupra mode (or to comfort then back to Cupra if you're already in it). Pull away in first, stamp on it to 3k RPM and just before lift off give it another blip. Lift off immediately and you'll hear firecrackers from the exhaust. Once warmed up, crackles are less loud.

Or. Do the above, get someone else to do it in neutral with the handbrake on and stand at the exhaust. Very quickly down on the accelerator and off just as quick. You'll be treated to burbles at around 2k RPM and crackles at 3k. Extremely easy car to make it happen with, but very easy to miss due to pretty decent sound proofing and the stupid hotwheels engine noise.

Find somebody local to you who has VCDS or OBD Eleven they can turn the speaker down from 100% or even fully off.

Quite hard to hear from inside the car but you definitely hear them outside. Wife and I end up having to drive separately and I could hear the pops and bangs from the exhaust as she drove from a set of traffic lights.

I watched a video recently of someone driving the DSG (mines manual also), the DSG bangs seem unreal. I also wonder if mine pops, but revved it in a pub car park recently (classy) when I remembered and it popped.

Mine makes a very loud crack noise on each dsg upshift when I'm pressing on.

Cant say I've noticed any pops/burbles other than that though,

I have a manual and as stated before you must make sure you select Cupra (or individual mode if you have Cupra engine selected) every time you restart the car.

I have not been doing this until recently so I have missed many of the bangs. Now I can't fail to get it in second and sometimes third but I think the DSG is more suited to get them in a regular basis.

Guys I'm looking at these but heard alot about traction issues, is this an overblown issue? I've had two golfs already most recently a gtd so don't fancy going for an R. An Audi S3 is more than I am willing to pay.
Seriously considering a cupra, what do.you like about it and what do you not?

Its only an issue if you give it a lot of throttle in slippery conditions, if that's an issue (it isn't for me) the AWD may be more suited.

Things I like;

- it has a real eager feel to it, very lively
- in Cupra mode it handles superbly, it has really been setup perfectly IMO
- most of the toys you need are standard
- DSG fart noises
- looks like an ordinary car to the untrained eye
- interior is far better quality than the internet would have you believe, a bit boring in places but high quality
- seats are great

Things I don't like

- No side skirts as standard, and an expensive option to add them. Sills look ugly without them close up. The FR gets them as standard FFS
- I never look back at the car and think "yeah" - like I did with my M5, Cayman or Jag S Type R
- Mid range grunt is a bit lacking, but a JB1 more than fixes that. Low down and top end are superb though
- DSG in auto mode can bog down a bit, and sport mode goes mental, there is no in between

Overall, especially for the lease deals about, its a fantastic car. Everyone should try one IMO.

Just a quick update.

At the weekend i fitted a 034Motorsport "dogbone" engine mount insert and its totally transformed the car!

Whereas before overzealous application of throttle in first and second gear would result in awful wheel-hop, now the car just grips and goes, the diff and traction control can actually do their job at more sensible speeds rather than having to wait until 3rd gear to unleash hell.
Also because my car is a manual, its improved the clutch and gearshift feel by taking a bit of the "slop" out of the drivetrain
Yes there is a tad more NVH, but it doesnt bother me, in fact i think when pressing on it actually adds a bit of rawness in a good way.

Before this mod i was convinced the car had too-much power - now im considering an extra 50bhp!
Definitely recommend it!

Is this easy to fit/remove?

Cheap upgrade if it is!

I can recommend a JB1 for the Cupra - car feels stock with normal driving, comes alive when you go for it, the mid range lack of grunt as standard disappears and its effing quick now.

Easy to fit too.

Yes - from under the car its a single 21mm bolt to remove, put the insert in, replace the bolt- torqued to 130nm... done.

Ive been looking at the JB1/JB4 - and also the TDItuning CRDT4 boxes. Sure are tempting!

Remember the bolt needs to be torqued back to factory setting wink

What is the fuel consumption like on these? A/B roads and dual carriageway on a 20 mile commute taking it easy?
