Has anyone tried the launch control yet?
Don't get excited, its poor.

Can launch a lot better manually in my DSG car, I've tried this in a stock car and my Stage2 car.
Agreed!

Sounds pretty good though when its holding, once I released said brake pedal there was a HUGE amount of wheelspin and generally just looked like a hooligan with blue smoke pouring from the conti's I aborted before it got full traction.

You can get away much better with your own right foot

A couple of questions/comments for those that have their cars:

- is there a way to get the wing mirrors to fold/unfold when locking/unlocking the car? There is a menu option which I have ticked but the car is refusing to play ball.

- I was told that the delivery mileage counts as part of my allocation - i have already told Carly that I don't accept that as a reasonable stance from VWFS especially given that my Golf R was taken from the mileage when delivered. Has anyone else raised this and what hve you been told?

- A very minor point:I have plain black carpet mats in mine and not the Cupra ones I was told would be in the car. Has anyone else noticed this and complained?

David
Hold the lock button for 2 seconds to get the mirrors to fold in

Not sure, collected mine with 6 on

Mine are black ones, they are fitted though.

Wessex just emailed to say my car will be delivered between 9-10pm!

How is that normal?! They said it would be delivered Monday. Yes that's Monday but it's when some people are in bed for gods sake!

Also how can I possibly sign for a car that I know is damaged when I am unable to inspect it in day light?!

What is going on here?!

I picked mine up in the dark, didn't look over it either, mines leased so not massively bothered if there were marks, wish I'd checked the wheel nut covers though wink

MPG seems low on mine too compared to what other people seem to get, on a mainly motorway run of 40 odd miles in comfort with not going over 75 I barely got 30mpg, people on cupra net are saying they get 32 to 35 round town, I'm getting 26 at a real push.

I've put it down to mileage on mine as it's still only 500 ish, didn't get it for mpg but thought it would be better than it is when not smashing it

Hi jon,

Quick question, did you used to have a Proton Coupe and be on proton owners club?
Yes mate, miss the £100 coupe! I've still got my T Shirt and membership card :-)

Enjoyed the right up Jonno,
I came out of a MK2 FR+ and agree with all you've said, one thing I noticed though is the the exhaust rumble was much deeper on that than the Cupra, I could hear the wife coming streets away in that, I had the 211bhp 2.0 tsi in it though.

I put a gti engine in that when the original one went, one of the lads got a fresh crate engine from proton for £300, I'm still connected on facebook to a few off there, mark or Phoenix I think his username was has just got a gti and is tweaking like he did with the coupes, that was a proper friendly group, went to a few meets with them.

DSG is fantastic but has it's faults - When selecting neutral and the engine shutting off you should be able to let go of the break and it will hold. On the CC with the electronic parking break it was the rear wheels that would lock, on the leon it must use a break system within the gearbox or crank. I was on a slight hill and the car was roll back, making a clicking noise while the green light on the dash would blink and it would engage. It seem like a pin in a hole type of locking mechanism to me, you can feel it try and engage through the shifter. Slow speed downshifts coming up to lights etc are a little clunky feeling but not that bad.
Cupra hasn't got Auto Hold like the VAG cars, I know what you mean though as my Audi has auto holds and its amazing, best £60 option ever, with the DSG your not supposed to knock it into neutral for a short stop, you leave in D and put your foot on the brake, the engine will shut off with the start stop, the brakes stay on for a split second to stop any roll back that what Seat mean by "auto hold"

You shouldn't leave a DSG resting on the P position either, you should either hold in D on the brake or P and Hand brake, the parking pawl is very thin by all accounts, its not like the traditional autos where you didn't need the hand brake

What type of gap insurance are people taking out? Standard that covers your remaining finance payments or return to invoice that pays the initial value of the car? And any recommendations of the cheapest place?
I got ALA PCH one for £15k cover and £2k deposit back for about £130 for 2 years cover

After a few hundred miles, I have to say I'm hearing a lot of stones rattle off the bottom of the car; more than any car I've ever owned. Especially on country roads.

I don't know how people are managing mid 30's MPG, I was sitting at 60 yesterday and was hitting 29mpg in comfort mode. Car is only on 750 miles, so hoping it loosens up a little.
It may get better I've hit 700 today and on a decent comfort run struggle with getting abover 30, 15 miles of slowish town driving today and I got 25

Have you tried Eco mode? It's hidden in the Individual mode...
I did once but the coasting with the dsg felt a bit weird, I didn't get it for economy anyway and it's better than my 2.0 tsi FR this replaced, for the power it has I think they are pretty good on fuel.

At least the key is an improvement in the MK2, you only got 1 remote key, the second key was a proper old school one that set the alarm off every time you opened it

It's quite clear on my paperwork any mods to be returned to standard, I wouldn't risk it as they are diamond cut wheels, guy at work has been hit with £2300 of charges for damage and rectification issues on an XF, this was collected by an auction house who noted on paperwork "additional items and changed wheels" although the wheels were only coloured not actually changed.

Charge has arrived several weeks after collection

Just be cautious, I'm not changing anything lol

I wonder if anyone has converted a Cupra to 4wd using the remains of a smashed up Golf R ?

probably not that complicated in the scheme of things.
The donor of choice appears to be the S3 from what i've seen on cupra net and some of the Leon sites in Germany...

It does. Press and hold the brake for a few seconds and let go.....should work.
Yep, you're right. Seems to be ok now thumbup
It only holds for a short time on the Leons which is different to the VAG auto hold with the button that holds for about 20 mins before switching to the park brake (yes i was sat in traffic i wasn't just really bored one day :-) ) best £65 option on my Audi wink

Quick question, do the 280/290/300 Cupras come with electric folding mirrors?
yes
Double checking but also auto wipers, lights, dimming mirror and front/rear sensors?

We may have missed the boat with this now unfortunately, my wife's current leased cactus goes back in November. Originally I asked Adam if he could delay the car until then, now it would probably be January!
Yes, all of the above mentioned :-)

Hi
Had one of the cupra deals from IMG, with car now ready for September from original delivery of October, then December.
The 15 or so cars there now, they just need to allocate the names to the cars via Seat UK to get September collection date, going to chase up weekly as need to end my present lease early.

Sounds as though it's a cupra compound up there ATM lol!

Not long to go..
Sounds like they are becoming the new Golf R :-)
