I've been reading the lease thread for a long time and finally decided to take first plunge into leasing. The information on here is very interesting and useful to a nervous first timer!

Need an estate for extra room over mk6 Gti so went to see Phil at IMG Warrington today and ordered Cupra ST in Mystery Blue. Delivery expected December / January. Cashback on the initial payment seems legit enough and should have cheque cleared before VWFS even take payment.

He's a nice chap.

Same here, to be honest it is all in the order form.
Reagarding the build date, I have ordered mine on 13th of July and was sent the order number on the 18th. Spoke to SEAT last week and build is scheduled for the week 37 (11th of September). E-mail IMG asking for build number and then call SEAT customer support on 0808 5 222 222, they will ask your name and address and confirm the car spec and the buid date.
Good bit of info there cheers! I've just got on the phone with them and they took my details but said I would get a call back once they have spoken to their build departament.

Did you order through IMG Warrginton? I have seen people mentioning cashback... have i missed something as this wasn't discussed with me.... other than i paid a £250 deposit which I get back on collection of the vehicle.

SEAT called back and have told me that the factory have only just accepted my order which was supposedly placed on 13th July. Been told a factory lead time of 20 weeks!! This take it up to December but I was originally told October! Is there anything I can do as that too long to wait! My company car goes back October so was cutting it fine anyway!

Basically the initial deposit isn't actually £249 it's £1300 and that's the amount VW finance will look to collect 10 -14 days after collection. In order to make the initial £249 - IMG will give cashback to cover the remaining amount when the car is collected either by cheque or BACS. This is my first Lease and Phil ran through it all with me when I paid the deposit. Hope that helps pal.

Cheers mate, that's really helpful. Did you get a receipt or confirmation email once you paid the deposit? I haven't had anything which I found slightly unusual....

First, do not panic, call IMG and explain the situation, see what they have to say.
If you ordered a standard car, they might offer you a car earlier (cancelled order, might be different colour). My mate originally ordered his Cupra for December, but last week was told that exactly the same car is in UK and he will take delivery in September and terminate current lease earlier.

Nope, not a thing mate which I thought was odd as well. No email or even a receipt as proof of deposit paid. Must be part of the process as I've read other comments of people paying and then nothing until the car is ready!?

Glad it's not only me. Can someone else who's further on in the process let us know if they got a receipt or confirmation email? If not, when are we likely to hear something?

Called IMG and unfortunately I was given the tough luck card. He said that nothing can be done and its now with SEAT. Not too sure how the process works but I've seen on several different lease threads that people who ordered after me have build dates of September / October. Is it normal to be given an order number 3 weeks ago only to be told that the factory have only just accepted the order today?

I explored possibility, with IMG, to take on car in a different colour etc to try get something earlier but was told that would be unlikely.

Little bit disappointed with the lack of understanding from IMG but I guess it's not their problem.

Just to reassure those who have placed orders recently, this thread was started when there were similar deals on the Cupra Black so there are a good number of us who have been through the same process.

Cash back was part of the deal too and everyone seemed to get their money well in advance of their first payments (although we were mostly with different dealers to IMG).

Don't expect too much in the way of updates , as frustrating as it is I think to a certain extent it is to be expected when taking up these stonking lease deals due to the higher than usual number of cars being processed.

Thanks Nick - it's reassuring to know it's frustratingly the norm. I'll just need to try and be patient!

One thing I should add is the car is well worth the wait and frustration, ours is used as a school runner and weekend weapon and it does both jobs very well! When you think to yourself how much (or little) it is costing a little bit of smugness is likely!

Exactly what Gavtt225 said. He gave me a till receipt for the £250 but I was sat in front of him. Phil did say the cash back had confused many people, understandably said hard to explain over email when people signing up. He's happy to put it all in an email from what he said.

Seat set the car price and dealer can't change it so to get the payments to where the offer is they basically give you a cheque to cover the initial down to the £250 or whatever your payment is. Should have at least 20 days to cash that before VWFS take the full initial.

All sounded very legit and genuine face to face! Don't think anything to worry about. They've done about 60 cupra now.

Not 100% related but I did the cashback thing when I got an M135i a couple of years back from Gateway2Lease.

I'm 1 week in and I've only done 250 miles. Seems to be a very competent car. love the amount of grip and it pulls away from nearly everything on the road. I haven't seen another CUPRA on the road in months and they seem to be getting a fair amount of attention. i have however noticed a few people at the lights determined to race off the line.

Seems to attract racers. Gave the Cupra a proper wash this evening and Wax. i do love the mystery blue colour.

Exact colour and car I've ordered ( unless that is ST, I've got the 5dr ) when did you order it Jord ? Slightly concerned about the colour, I love it but it's bound to attract unwanted attention various scrotes.
