Picked up my blue white Cupra yesterday ( I ordered Blue and it arrived white ha ) loving the car and whilst I think the red / blue colours really make the Cupra stand out, I'm weirdly okay with the White as it doesn't stand out and White cars hide stone chips and scratches etc really well.

One thing I feel a lot of you's are missing out on ( seamed like a lot of you's ordered standard cars ) is the Adaptive cruise control option @ £150. Wow it makes such a difference with long old motorway journeys or just when you want to keep to the speed limit for once..... it made my 300 mile trip to Cornwall today a breeze in comparison to other cars I've used for the same journey.

I didn't even notice the ACC option.. but i had already added DSG, seat sound and winter pack, so didn't really want to go mad with options. The car has cruise control anyway doesn't it? So the ACC basically maintains speed to the cars in front? Sounds interesting, although im not entirely sure how much i would use it. would have been an extra 6quid a month and i'd already gone above my budget anyway, so didn't really justify it given what it's costing. Nice thing to consider next time though
If it can save your licence/points = £insurance then probably one of the more worthwhile options

call me old fashioned but I do try to be aware of my speed when driving, so tracking the speed of a car in front would in no way impact on the likelihood of me getting in trouble for going too quickly.

anyways. I collected my car from IMG yesterday, lovely 4hr jaunt back and the car is superb. Very modern for me (I have quite a few motors but the newest is an old 2004 leon cupra, with quite a few modified mx5s) so it's a lovely place to be and the DSG is an absolute revelation. Why you wouldn't spec it with DSG I have no idea - it's sublime. Given how quick it is, I'm not sure a manual would really be particularly fun. I do have a 300bhp+ Mk2 mx5 if I want to scare myself in a manual car, so it's lovely that this cupra can be all thing to all people - carry the family/dog around, motorway cruise in comfort, scare yourself silly etc. Really very pleased with the car. Adam at ISG was also great to deal with.

Glad you are enjoying it and fair point re. DSG but when you are trying to get the best possible lease deal (as many on here are trying to do) an extra £39 a month is just not justifiable. I test drove a DSG equipped Cupra and wasn't that impressed personally, but then I haven't driven a manual, well not until mine arrives in November anyway!

DSG vs Manual is quite personal isn't it? I went for DSG but from the outset I knew I wanted an auto, just wasn't sure what car it was going to be until the Cupra deals came along. Much of my driving is in stop start traffic on DC/Motorway. Manual cars are a pain for that. On a nice road, I'd prefer a manual I must admit but at least DSG is a little engaging still. I'll take that compromise.

Ordered August 9th from IMG Warrington - was initially told November/December delivery. Now been given an unconfirmed delivery date of Week 7 2018, so essentially mid February furious Delivery would be mid March.

Registered my disappointment with Seat directly but was essentially told 'it is what it is'.

Don't think I would have ordered in hindsight if I knew there'd be a 7 month lead time but will just see it through now.

Yeah auto v manual is very much personal preference. That being said, i can do 39quid on lunch so that small hit for what is an absolute revelation, to me, is worth it. I love a lazy auto in traffic to begin with, let alone the speed at which it will crash through the gears when you're on a push.

Very interested to hear about anyone considering a track day.... Would need dedicated track day insurance obviously but i would love to take it to brands or something to learn where its limits are.

Glad to see the 300's arriving now.

I would take a DSG if I did mostly motorway miles with rush-hour stop/start on motorways, but most of my driving is rural roads and I like to tell the car when to change up, not have the artificial limiter force the car to, even in cupra mode. The DSG pushed the car too close to a golf R deal (back when I ordered my 290 BE anyway) but I wonder with the DSG's massive rise in popularity if we'll see the price between manual and DSG begin to close in the next few years.

it's interesting how subjective it is. it's so bloody comfy that the dsg, to me feels like how the car should be. i cant even imagine having to faff with manual gears - trying to navigate through all the menus is complicated and time consuming enough let alone having to change gears biggrin
That being said, I haven't noticed it changing up too early or doing anything other than what it should (unlike compared to a traditional automatic, that seemingly just does what it bloody well wants). I've not gone for a 'proper' blap yet but want to go round some local driving roads and see what it's really like on the limit (my limit... not the cars... as i'm crap)

21st July - I ordered it (Midnight Black, manual, no extras, 10k) from Vospers Plymouth, they matched the IMG deal @ £259/month. My current leased Peugeot 208 GTI by PS goes back on 12th November, so they agreed they'd "lease" me a temporary car at the same price as the Cupra if the Cupra arrives after 12th November. Vospers rang me last week to say it should be here in November.

My first DSG equipped car. After 20 years of manual driving its taking a little adjusting. I tend to have the car in D around town and then when im out of town I like to use the paddles (got some extensions to go on as i find the paddles too small) I dont really like S, it doesnt suit round town and doesnt really fit with my driving out of town. The power is amazing coming from a golf GTD and overtaking is no problem. It gathers speed so fast you really have to be careful entering some corners.

I think the more I drive it the more DSG will grow on me. I love how it can be two completely different cars, a real lazy comfy cruiser in D and then a complete animal in manual, can even be lazy in manual actually.

Loving the 'bang' on the up changes when pressing on, but yet to have any burbles on the downshifts.

I've got a manual and to be fair the exhaust is quite quiet at the moment. Currently done about 300miles in the car so it might get a bit louder as the car beds in. Thought it would be a lot louder than it is.

S mode is hopeless isn't it? I have no idea who would benefit from that. There is also an E mode for the gearbox. I set the individual driving profile to everything on its lowest most eco settings and in that mode gearbox is in E. Quite strange, it will knock itself out of gear when coasting and is a little unresponsive generally but might be quite useful when just pootling.

I hear bangs on the 'overrun' more than downshifts themselves. If you are coasting off the brakes and come down through the box with revs quite high, you'll start to hear popping as revs fall away. It's nothing to write home about and only audible at lower speeds but it's fun.

Yeah totally. I'm perhaps changing job and my 290 is due back December 2018, I may be tempted to hit a 300 DSG for my next lease as I'll be doing a lot more motorway and would like a DSG for rush hour.

The car is very well insulated it's hard to hear. In cupra, push to 3-3.5k RPM and lift off suddenly. You'll hear pops and cracks. It's VERY obvious on a cold start. As in firecrackers. Or just sit in neutral, door open and rev to 3.5k and lift off. You'll hear a lot of burbles.

And remember, when you turn the car off in CUPRA, when you turn it back on, it will show it's in CUPRA mode. But it's not. Change to another mode, then back to Cupra and you'll get burbles and crackles. When you restart the car, the engine goes to ECO. And no matter how hard to rev it, it will not burble.

My exhaust was quiet until around 3k miles, then it really opened up. Now you can really hear it semi-drone when pushing on.

I find with mine that I only need to pop the gearstick down to S after turning it on to bring the burbles back. But I don't get them ever in Cupra mode even when driving in D after S so perhaps thats why?
