The Cupra (Black) Lease thread
Discussion
I ordered my Cupra in July to replace salary sacrifice lease car going back through work. Out of interest to see how the deals compared i looked at the providers website for Cupra prices per month.
Local dealer cost: £249(8k)/£259(10k) + insurance + maintenance
Salary sacrifice provider: £615 (including insurance + maintenance)
Looks like an even better deal for those lucky to snap them up

I find with mine that I only need to pop the gearstick down to S after turning it on to bring the burbles back. But I don't get them ever in Cupra mode even when driving in D after S so perhaps thats why?
Yep. Engine mode must be changed to something else, then back to cupra every time you start the car.Jonno02 said:

it's interesting how subjective it is. it's so bloody comfy that the dsg, to me feels like how the car should be. i cant even imagine having to faff with manual gears - trying to navigate through all the menus is complicated and time consuming enough let alone having to change gears
That being said, I haven't noticed it changing up too early or doing anything other than what it should (unlike compared to a traditional automatic, that seemingly just does what it bloody well wants). I've not gone for a 'proper' blap yet but want to go round some local driving roads and see what it's really like on the limit (my limit... not the cars... as i'm crap)
Yeah totally. I'm perhaps changing job and my 290 is due back December 2018, I may be tempted to hit a 300 DSG for my next lease as I'll be doing a lot more motorway and would like a DSG for rush hour. That being said, I haven't noticed it changing up too early or doing anything other than what it should (unlike compared to a traditional automatic, that seemingly just does what it bloody well wants). Loving the 'bang' on the up changes when pressing on, but yet to have any burbles on the downshifts.
The car is very well insulated it's hard to hear. In cupra, push to 3-3.5k RPM and lift off suddenly. You'll hear pops and cracks. It's VERY obvious on a cold start. As in firecrackers. Or just sit in neutral, door open and rev to 3.5k and lift off. You'll hear a lot of burbles. And remember, when you turn the car off in CUPRA, when you turn it back on, it will show it's in CUPRA mode. But it's not. Change to another mode, then back to Cupra and you'll get burbles and crackles. When you restart the car, the engine goes to ECO. And no matter how hard to rev it, it will not burble.
My exhaust was quiet until around 3k miles, then it really opened up. Now you can really hear it semi-drone when pushing on.
S mode or S mode in manual is the only way to have the engine in Cupra mode... Easy way to tell is have the car in N or P and if it's in Cupra engine mode the revs will be above 1k rpm at idle, every other mode will be below. In Cupra mode but using the normal D in gearbox mode reduces the engine to normal mode again. Annoying as hell not being able to do engine and gearbox modes seperately.

Presumably you can set the individual profile for all that though?Gad-Westy said:

Edited to add : My way around this is to put the gearbox in S and then move it over to manual, this retains the Cupra engine mode and then you can change up at a reasonable RPM rather than it revving its tits off all the time.

Would anyone be interested in taking on my lease? I'm looking to take another member's cancelled order (with DSG, happens to arrive much sooner as well ), and see if someone wants to take mine:
1+23 @ 261, 8k miles per annum
Cupra 300 Manual 5 DR
Mystery Blue
Extras: SEAT sound system
It's with IMG, and the latest unconfirmed build date when I asked, was week 8 2018. This is expected to come forward.

Would just like to reiterate how glad I am I went for the FWD Manual Cupra 300 over a Golf R DSG (which was what I was after originally). Done around 600 miles in the Cupra now and love it! You actually have to focus and use some skills to drive the car when you floor it which puts it into a different league compared to the Golf which handles itself when you push it. Definitely puts a smile on my face and 100% a drivers car! Incredible car.

What's with the alloys on the Cupra 300? The ones in their current press ads and UK website front page are different to the only available option when you actually try and spec the car? Also is the flat very light grey paint no longer an option? That seemed the nicest colour last time I was checking out Leons. The current lease offers have definitely made me set up and take another look at the Cupra.
Here's a question.
I've had my 290BE for nearly a year now. I either have it in individual(eco engine, cupra diff) or cupra. Now, I absolutely HATE the fake engine noise in the cupra mode, but I like the pops and bangs. I accidentally had it in sport mode the other day and was still getting pops and bangs...so is there actually any difference in the engine mode between cupra and sport?

I think (not 100%) the only difference is that in Cupra mode the rev limit is raised by 500rpm, next time I'm out in it I'll have a play and find out.I've had my 290BE for nearly a year now.
