I reckon a phone call to SEAT 0808 5222 222 and see what they say.
I called SEAT this morning as I was late finishing work last night. They weren't able to give me an update on my build week but are calling back later. I was informed that they can update the car colour at any point before the vehicle is accepted by the manufacturing factory. Basically if the car has a confirmed build slot you cant change the colour. I wont be overly impressed with IMG if they haven't tried to change the colour and it hasn't been confirmed yet - will wait and see once SEAT call me back. SEAT did confirm it needs to be the dealer who requests this change so I'll have to go back to IMG if its not confirmed and ask again.

At least you can be armed with the info that they can change if necessary if no build week assigned.

The man from SEAT who i have been in contact with has been very helpful despite not having a confirmed build week which has been my cause for contacting them. He has rang 3 times at exactly the time he said and send a text number to contact him on if need info outside of the fortnightly updates he gives me. Shame the updates werent to say the car is being built

Am I right in thinking that you ordered early August too? I haven't had a confirmed build week yet but if I get given one and my car is built soon I am happy to stick with the current colour. If there is longer wait hopefully I can put some pressure on to change.

Im not too fussed waiting to be honest. My car goes back end of November and i will pick up a run around for a while and pocket the cash saved for a holiday. I will be quite happy to get new one but i will enjoy shopping around for £1k run around more especially if it is a random one like a Jag X type etc.

I will then politely ask what SEAt can do for me for waiting such a long time and see what they say. Double lead time is free gift territory i reckon smile

Emailed customer services and got "I have checked your order and at this time I can confirm that your vehicle is in transit from the factory to port, from there it will wait to be shipped to the UK."

Any ideas how long this would take?

Its getting close now!

So does anyone think Seat will catch up on all these cars they are behind on building. Ive been quoted April delivery. Is it likely they can actually deliver on this?

Mine is due to be built in January (only ordered last week), but I'm not holding out much hope for getting it when my current Polo GTi lease goes back 10th Feb! Might have to buy a cheap snotter to tide me over too

So just rang Seat Bham. I signed my Cupra deal around the 20th of July and was told I should expect my car end of Oct or first week of Nov. Now told end of Nov beginning of December.

I signed up cos my old banger a cheap run around has the MOT due to expire first week of Nov and was going to scrap it in but now have to sort out the MOT and service etc to get the same value for scrap.

Do I have any room for negotiation wit Seat in regards admin cost or similar?

I would doubt it as it's only an estimated delivery date they gave you and if you do get it 4-5 weeks later than estimated i would say that you are doing well, especially considering how long others are going to have to wait for their cars.

Does anyone know if there are any stock cars floating around? I'm guessing these have all been snapped up judging by the lead times, but worth a shot!

It is worth ringing SEAT and asking them if they have them in the system or failing that go to a dealer and get them to do the leg work.

The lead times are puzzling to say the least. Obviously not helped by current problems in Catalonia

Hi all, I am now 11 months into a two year lease on my Cupra 290. (It's awesome, you guys who are just ordering, it IS worth the wait!) I remember there was an earlier discussion about servicing. Am I right in thinking that if I book it in for a service at 1yr + 1 week since I collected it, then although it counts as being serviced on time, when the lease expires it will still not need (me to pay for) its second annual service?

Eg I took delivery on Dec 9th 2016, I will book the service for Dec 16th 2017, then return on Dec 8th 2018. I am only doing 6000 miles per year so no worries on that front.
Thanks!

Confirmed by IMG this morning that my car has been confirmed for build week 47 which is the 20th November. Am I right in thinking that I should be expecting to pick up in January? I am just trying to plan selling my current vehicle.

Such a joke that SEAT are still dropping the ball with these orders. The whole 290 thing was bad enough with delays and colour changes, but the fact SEAT still haven't sorted it out is unreal.

I've had confirmation in the last 48hrs my dsg/5dr order from 20th july is confirmed - build week 46, shipping is roughly 6-8 from that. Those who ordered July/aug might want to give seat a call soon, you should have a date now.

I ordered my car beginning of June and back then it was estimated at 19 weeks, ended up being 20. Are people waiting longer than this now?
