How are people finding the android auto connectivity? Mines struggles to connect and when it does it often disconnects, it could be my USB cable though so might need to try another.
I tried and failed and never tried again since

I struggled to get it to work initially, but now its fine - starts up really quickly compared to carplay and is reliable.

I was having the same issue in my Golf with the same system. I've changed to a new cable and its perfect, and whilst i'm Apple car play rather than android, it is excellent for calling etc all through voice activation

I have been using AA for quite a while. When it starts behaving like this, I change the cable and that resolves it. Worth buying a few from amazon to periodically change them!

Anybody that's due to hand back a 290 black, placing an order for a 300 this year?

I really want an Orange one! Not 100% sure if I will though as the reduction in spec may be a bit of a bug-bear, will be interesting to see how much VWFS want to extend for a year.

Ditto. I was pondering this last night, but I've resigned myself to the fact that the 290 black edition was an AMAZING deal, the cupra 300 with lower spec is still a great deal. It's hard not to base your next lease off your current deal though; which is a little sore if you're currently on a stellar deal.

Yeah, the heated seats etc I am prepared to surrender although I like having them, the main difference I know I would miss is the bucket seats. I have requested an extension quote so will report back when it arrives in case anyone else is considering it - only problem then is I would definitely need to be replacing tyres around the two year mark which then makes me thing why not use that money as the down-payment on an orange 300......

I'm looking at tyres already after 7,000 miles. Ouch.

Same, the bucket seats in this car are the single best seat I've ever experienced in a vehicle. But if I extend, I'm gonna have to do a service/tyres perhaps again, so surrendering the 290 is making sense for me. I want that orange or fiery red!

Initially had a lot of problems with the unit in my Golf R (presumably pretty similar under the fascia) .. bear in mind that you need the Android Auto app installed on the phone and the phone must be in 'MTP/ data over USB' mode once you connect it. I think by default recent versions of Android start in 'USB charge only' mode ... you need to actually select the mode from a dialog box which should pop up on the phone when it detects a USB cable with power on it. A real pain IMO and no way to make it default to MTP mode.

Also, more of an issue with my particular phone but the USB socket design on it was a bit weird and very sensitive to disconnecting depending on how snug of a fit the cable was in the micro-USB socket. This of course triggered the 'select USB mode' thing on the phone again .... grrrrrrr. In the end I found a really nice fitting USB cable - think it came from my Kindle originally (or possibly Chromecast).

What are you doing to that poor car? I'm on 5000 miles and 7mm on the fronts...

Going slightly off topic here but you should be able to get your android phone to default to MTP data transfer. If you go into settings, click on 'About Phone', then click on 'Build number' 7 times, it will open up developer options. Go back into settings, scroll to the bottom, go into developer options and look for 'Select USB configuration'. You can then change it to MTP, however I think it is best to do when the phone is not connected to anything and then it should remember it as a default setting.

Mines going back in 9 months.. don’t wanna hand it back! I wouldn’t mind keeping it really, perfect daily driver.

Will see what the summer brings in terms of lease deals, i’d have a 300 if they go back to the cheaper IMG rates. Unless there’s a new shape due soon?

I think I need to do a better job then... I pretty much treat the gas pedal like an on/off switch!

New fronts after 12.5k miles. I can recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S after only a week. Much better than the Continentals.

redface jesus, I'm clearly overdriving this thing then, I'm down to 4mm after 3k miles, need to rotate them to the rear to try and even it out, I'm guessing I'll be replacing 2 sets of 4 by the time it goes back, next time I'll be taking the maintenance!

Seriously thinking about keeping my 290 when the lease finishes and then carrying out some mods. Depends on what the deal is (I have a PCP) but its a serious amount of car for the money and with a few choice mods it could be even more of a bargain compared to a new 300 or Golf R.

Im going to get a pick up as a company car so the 290 could go in the garage as a toy. The only thing that I am having doubts about is the hassle I have had with getting the seat split sorted and the fact that I am drawn back to another TVR smile
