What number did you use to get through the Seat CS? Was it 08085 222 222?
Yep, that's the number. I was put on hold for a little bit whilst the lady on the phone rang another team to get details, but overall she was very helpful.

Hello all, first post, ordered a Cupra Lux through Leasing Options in August but didn't sign until October with a mid-December delivery. Car is finally in the country! Landed at Grimsby on the 27th and hasn't moved since. Called SEAT yesterday, have to call back on Thursday to see if there's any transport booked to get it to the dealer in York. Don't know if I've ever encountered a business that gives less of a f*ck about customers. Still looking forward to the car though.

Surely leasing options should be sorting out the transport of the car through to the dealer? You shouldn't have to call SEAT to arrange that.

Anyone taken delivery of the 2020 Cupra 290 had a shock with insurance?

My 2018 Cupra 300 was ~£285 a year.
2020 Cupra 290 arriving next week is £550 with no other changes apart from the car. frown

Is it a Lux, i.e. hasKeyless Entry? That's pushing the insurance prices up of anything with the same Golf system due to huge numbers of thefts.

i think it's more to do with the number of Cupra's being stolen

Uh-oh, I'm making the same move and had assumed it would be about the same.

Nope, it's the non lux.

Slightly annoying but it's just going to be one of those things. I was hoping it'd actually go down given I've lost 10bhp over the last model frown ahh well.

I'm due to take delivery of my 290 next week and switching from a 67 plate Cupra 300... I was expecting a bump up but surely not almost double?!

Mine went up £45 from a 300 to a new 290. That was 6 months ago though. I think a lot have been stolen since then and/or used in robberies etc.

I was aware of Golf R's being nicked but maybe I've been living under a rock? Cupra thefts in numbers is news to me...

There a few Facebook groups for the MK3 Leon and cupra, I think I've seen about 20 reported stolen in the last 6 months.

Update on a Zen order: car arrived in Grimsby on 8th March and I was told by Seat at the time it would be max 2 weeks from then to delivery.

Have been chasing Zen all week and they finally told me today that the car is stuck at a compound until 25th March. Apparently this is where they sign them off as roadworthy, etc.

Because of WLTP changes coming in, there's a massive surge in cars they're trying to push through before the changes kick in on 6th April.

Not expecting to have car delivered now until early April.

It's been mentioned in other threads but I'll reiterate, piss poor comms from Zen since they accepted my order in November.

Potentially changing my mind from a Ceed GT Line S to one of these (with driver assistance pack) as the price is pretty similar (I'd be losing some spec mind but I can probably live with that) and it's much more suitable for a petrolhead like myself.

What's the ride quality like in comfort mode?
In terms of sportiest cars, I've had a E89 Z4 on 19"s and adaptive M suspension and a F56 Cooper JCW with adaptive suspension and both of those were okay in comfort mode.

What's the base sound system like?
I've got a Mk2 Focus Ghia with the Sony system (so 8 premium speakers only, no amp or sub) at the moment and I'm pretty happy with that- the HK system in the Mini was good too. Obviously I note that it's an unbranded 8 speaker system as opposed to the previously offered Seat Sound or the newly offered Beats Audio so I'm curious if it's any good.

Ride is OK, I keep in Comfort mode 90% of the time and its not too crashy, just don't expect to be blasting through speedbumps or pockmarked roads. On recently surfaced roads you can get away with Sport mode and Cupra mode I've only ever used on track days. Overall I'd say ride is more than good enough given the fairly minimal tyre wall.

Sound system is OK up front but not great in the rear. I wouldn't call it premium by any means; if you're a bit of an audiophile and used to premium systems I don't think it'll be up to scratch. For me it's absolutely fine, not tinny, enough bass and can go fairly loud before the usual in-car audio distortions kick in.

Got the Cupra 290 Lux from my 67 Cupra 300 and a few improvements.

Heated seats
Keyless

However, the change in engine tone from comfort to sport to Cupra is poor. No real change in pitch or aggression. I have also found that the mirrors don’t fold in? Am I doing something wrong? I have double clicked on fob and nothing!!!

If I had known that I would have not got the same model

Engine note might change once it's run in a bit, but they are a bit more strangled now. As to the mirrors, on my 18 plate car you just hold the lock button down for about 3 seconds.
