Bloody hell how utterly crap are these Bridgestone tyres, the car just has no grip at all on these damp mucky roads. The A6 that has just gone back with barely legal tyres gave far more confidence, even my wife's X trail feels better! And before anyone's asked yes I've checked the tyre pressures. I'd almost be tempted to change themy but sort of defeats the purpose of a cheap lease car. What do other people think of them?

Pretty st. Usually OK once rolling though just got to be a bit more cautious from a standstill in wet.cerbfan said:

Yea they are a bit of a joke, tyres spin up basically every time I floor it at the moment in this weather.Edward-ipx5k said:
Keyless unlock and lock working great for me, touch the inside of the door handle to unlock, touch the outside on the little notch to lock, works every time.
It seems what I was doing wrong was putting my hand into the handle before hitting the outside button to lock the car - every time I do it now (without putting my hand into the handle) it works fine! Simple user error.rejn said:

Yea I did the same when first trying it. Also realised I can avoid using the keyfob to lock the car after using the boot by simply locking the car before opening the boot. Never have to use the keyfob at all now, its great.Edward-ipx5k said:

I also found out you can't start the car with the key in the boot, needs to be closer!I was not even meaning so much the wheelspin issue which I expected with it, its more the fact that the thing is under steering at every bend and roundabout, really surprised by it and have no confidence to push on with the car. I remember back to when I had a Clio 200 a few years ago which is the closest thing that I've ever had to the Golf and the difference is night and day, that thing just inspired confidence and had amazing grip. I hope its just a tyre issue and not a fundamental flaw of the car.

That's exactly what I was meaning too. I find switching all the systems off helps a bit.Agree with the above regarding tyres!
Absolute garbage they are, I don't even drive fast but even when coming out of a junction onto a quicker road they spin.
I was driving at 30mph the other day and was conscious of the lights changing so I put my foot down slightly to get me to 35-40ish and the wheels spun again.
I will definitely be changing tyres. Any recommendations? Winter tyres?

I had the same potenzas on my BMW and thought they were great.
I find in the Golf In the wet the fronts spin up but I'm sure they would no matter what brand was fitted. I've not experienced understeeer and seems to grip really well on fast bends. Absolutely not trying to sound patronising but have you checked the pressures? Wouldn't be first time dealer has put too much air in.
I think my oil needs topping up though, looks like I'm nearing the min marker after 2000 miles.

Not patronising at all because I haven't checked to be honest. I take this has a bearing on grip if they are over inflated? I just presumed that the VW would put the correct amount of air into the tyres upon delivery of the vehicle.
General consensus is to keep the tyres then and just wait for the summer time?

I took the car our for a B road blast, it wasn't wet but it was golf and greasy and it much better once moving. General consensus is to keep the tyres then and just wait for the summer time?
I would not assume that the pressures are correct, at all. Better check the book, no idea what they should be!
