The S5 lease thread

If I was porkinsider I'd have taken great pleasure in telling them to poke it by now... more patient than me haha....
If I'm absolutely, totally, completely honest. The only reason I haven't told them to stick it up their ring already is that the car's in such short supply and high demand they'd probably welcome that.I don't want to give them any positives from this whatsoever, so it will be made as difficult for them as it possibly can be.
I'm waiting for a call from BMW at the moment.

So yours is still in Emden then?
Don't know if it's even got there yet, Nick.Fair point regarding not being any the wiser if it wasn't for the internet, however the April VED change was always on the cards and at no point was there any mention whatsoever that cars ordered as early as mine was could be caught up in that.
If anything, I was advised that it might not be a '17 plate as it could arrive before March.
The broker wasn't advised there could be an issue with such early orders either and they said they wouldn't have accepted the orders without discussing with customers, had Audi given them any idea whatsoever that there could be an issue.
I wouldn't mind the waiting so much if it wasn't the case that on a whim Audi will decide who gets stung for the many hundreds extra for the VED, and who doesn't, by dint of them deciding, seemingly ad-hoc, whose car will go where and on what day.
If you look at in the context of, "Let this one and this one go today Barry; leave that one which was ordered a month earlier here for now, they can pay for the VED increase" it's not quite so palatable.
For anyone wondering if they will have to pay the extra VED, this is apparently the situation.
Audi will only pay up if the car is at Emden and it was 'called off' by 28 February (in other words it went to 'status 30' by end of Feb).
Or...
If the car is already at the UK Port with a compound entry date and transport order dated 2 weeks before the cut-off (i.e. on or before 17 March) but doesn't then get registered by 31st, for a reason other than the customer or dealer delaying it on purpose.

Sorry to hear that mate but completely understandable given the st customer service you've experienced!!!
If you decide to go for an M4 I'd really be interested to see some pics as it's a car that's on my list too
Thanks Nick. It just wasn't meant to be, it seems...If you decide to go for an M4 I'd really be interested to see some pics as it's a car that's on my list too
Talking about M4s, believe it or not I've bought one today! I made the decision to cancel the S5 and within 4 hours I'd put a deposit down on the M4 and I should have it within a week or so!
It's brand new, but already built and ready to be registered so no VED hike.
It's a competition pack car in Tanzanite blue with opal white interior (pimp style ) with carbon trim and some decent options.
I'll get some pics up when it arrives, but won't derail this thread any further.
I'm pleased to see you have a date for your S5 now. I can't believe what a long drawn out process it's been with Audi for some people.

Audi really have been terrible with their lead times.
A mate of mine ordered a brand new Mercedes C43 Amg in Jan and received it last week with all the options. I ordered my S5 SB on Nov 21st and still don't know when it will be delivered. Estimated back end of April....But just fed up of the wait and lack of clarity.

It's apparently waiting to be shipped, but been there for over a week. No indication from anyone at Sheffield Audi as to when it will actually get on the ship. Same dealership that told me not to trust the Audi tracker as apparently that's all innaccurate too.
That's crazy. Regardless of what delivery date you were given, how on Earth it can take well over a month from arriving at Emden to finally receiving the car is anyone's guess.Still, I suppose anything's possible if cars can get stuck in QC for nearly a month.

Great spec and im sure you will love it! Personally pref the M3 styling wise but you have a belter in regards to colour and spec there
I like the M3 myself, but the only ones available were black/black and Yas Marina/black, which doesn't appeal to me.ODRALLAG said:
Nice upgrade on the S5 that's for sure, how did the deal stack up compared to the S5? I'm guessing alot more expensive ?
To lease direct from BMW with this spec' on 24 months 10k miles was £10,000 upfront then £1,300/month, which is absolutely crazy, so I've bought it instead. It was approximately £70k including options but there are discounts to be had, so a little under £60k all in with service pack, etc.

Surely it is on topic. This thread has always been about leased s5's. Including whats good and bad. What to expect from your s5's and what to be aware of. Not just about current lease deals and delivery times.
I agree, especially since quite a few people have theirs or will be getting theirs in the next week or so. The Golf R thread (only other specific model lease thread I am following) is very similar. The idea was to have a thread where people taking up the S5 lease offer could waffle about the car's features, the spec they ordered, the endless waiting for them to arrive (granted, I didn't know about that bit when I started the thread!) the actual cars when they arrive and their opinions on them, lies/dislikes, etc. to keep it off the main lease offers thread.
I'm probably more guilty than anyone of taking it off topic due to my rantngs about the delays and then deciding to cancel and buy a BMW instead.

Mine's at Grimsby too. Makes me Mr Grumpy. Given there is now a seperate post for S5 drivers (lucky sods) feedback and opinions I would have expected to see the noise discussion to be on that thread, not both! Just an observation!
Anyway Monday tomorrow, another working day and maybe we'll see some movement.....and maybe we won't.
Fair point re: the 2 threads.Anyway Monday tomorrow, another working day and maybe we'll see some movement.....and maybe we won't.
Out of interest, I'm still keeping an eye on the one I cancelled just to see how long it eventually takes.
That one hasn't yet made it as far as the UK, despite being built 18th Feb and into QC on 20th.
What was your build date and how long has it been in Grimsby?

Has it just arrived today? Even so, they should be able to register it now that it is in the UK which would mean that the new VED won't apply.
I think it arrived today, they said it can't be registered until it's in physical stock whatever that means, they seem very keen just to re quote the price rather than concentrate on getting it registered NSS89 said:

Mine were correct, way different in what respect? Hugely expensive or a different term?
Initial rental is around £1300 more than agreed.Payments are around £20 more than agreed.
Hoping it is just an admin error!
Assume they were talking about how cars on order were priced too low based upon expecting to register them earlier than they have actually managed, given all the delays.
Perhaps the paperwork you have reflects that - not that it's your problem if they quoted too low in the first place.
On the other hand perhaps they just sent the wrong paperwork!

Just spoke to Sheffield Audi, they told me Audi and DVLA have blocked registering any new cars unless they are actually at the dealer due to too many getting registered, higher VED it is for me then missing it by a day it looks like
That's appalling.I would tell them to stick the car where the sun doesn't shine, like I did with my order.
You're probably somewhat stuck given the pricing will still be as good as, or better than, a new order would achieve but personally I'm too pig-headed to give in and let them pass the costs of their incompetence on directly like that.
