The S5 lease thread

Just joined the party, sold my MY13 GTR a few months ago to down size to a family 4 door with a bit of poke for my daily.

Below are the details through an Audi dealership

Glacier White Sportback S5
Night and Vision pack (Virtual cockpit, extended LED, Matrix LED Lights)
Bang and Oluf. sound system
Flat bottom steering wheel
Rear view camera
Privacy Glass

£3k deposit inc VAT
35 months at £500 inc VAT

Expected delivery date early/mid June

Very nice, but downgrading from Godzilla's performance must be painful!!

Still waiting for mine (Sportback though) delivered in about 4 weeks time. Love to hear your thoughts good and bad. I have a feeling that when you have an S5 every sod will want to race you.....particularly the bimmer drivers.

I found when I had an S4 it wasn't as bad as when I had a GTI Edition 30, or as my Golf R now, and I had the S4 for around the same amount of time as the Golfs combined. I am guessing a lot of the "racing" types don't know what they are looking at since they don't see them in Max Power, they don't know if it has 250 or 500hp so don't want to bite off more than they can chew. Never had any issue with BMW drivers.

I get loads of people when I am on dual carriageways who will loiter at 50-60, I go past them at 70 next thing they zoom past at about 100 then pull in in front of me in a "look how fast my car is" kind of way.

I just took it out for a lunchtime blast and I'm already loving this car.. The drive is great and there's plenty of power - It's hard not to boot it!

Regarding initial order to delivery - I ordered mine at the beginning of November and was told mid-late Feb, therefore all on time! A wobble in the middle (early March expected) but it quickly came back in line.
It was worth the wait!

You said you ordered it 'a few weeks ago' but you're expecting it in about 4 weeks?

If ordered through a dealer that had allocation then that is feasible? Could be a cancelled order too

Yes you're right. I'd forgotten but he said it was a cancelled order, come to think of it.

Must be one of the very first customer cars, too.

Yes, know the types well. I have found in the past that they also drive right up ur backside as if to egg you on, and when you don't react they do some silly and dangerous manoeuvre just to get in front. Normally I would just de-badge it to look like any other A5, but you cant hide the quad pipes so pointless in doing so.

Will certainly miss the GTR performance, the car was just a beast!

But priorities were a little out of whack and mrs has my balls in a vice.

Would have prefered the RS variant but thats a year away and needed car much sooner.

Still 24th of April for me.
No email yet from CVL saying i will have to pay the increased VED but expecting it next month. Probably late enough so i have no time to get something else.

Ordered White and with only option being VC. Been tempted to add privacy glass and change the colour but i'm not sure.
When i had my own cars, i loved washing them, every week without fail.
But with lease car, i just take it to the hand cash wash guys for £5.

Just think its a thought process of, its not my car, so i wont treat it as such. Kind of similar to Top Gears thought process of hire cars are the fastest in the world.
Silly really as ive had to pay damages on a hire car, so should treat it the same as my own.
Just feel with taking it to the car wash guys, White is an easy colour to maintain and hide the swirls etc.

Maybe silver... had a silver C63 which looked great even when dirty and hide the swirls.

Anyone with their car, have you tried uploading custom POI into the satnav, like speed camera locations from GPS WORLD?

I seem to recall you have a Sportback on order with build date of the 20th of Feb (Same as me)

Has yours moved on according to the tracker yet mate?

I tend to go to cheapo car wash as well.. luckily mine has had 2 very good wash and deep wax from Ayr Audi (the second one being a little extra sorry for taking a while sorting some creaks and rattles)

Didn't know you could put speed cameras onto maps... most things are shown on the map and I have tried the Google maps send to car. Will have a look at GPS world now a and see about the cameras (would be very useful!!)

Yeah I suppose there isn't a lot of point, apart from they follow that close you can't see the pipes!

Lease or PCP, I always take care of high end cars because its no different when it comes to returning the car in the same way when you sell your car you own outright, you still need to fix up the scratches and dings if you want to sell it on, same applies to lease/PCP when you retuen them unless you're happy to pay additional fees.

The lease I got worked out alot cheaper than PCP and made much more financial sense.

What colour have you gone for mate? I was thinking Blue or Silver, but i got confused looking at older S5 as they had this very bright blue and it looked amazing. But the blue we can have is much darker. Currently got a blue ST in a similar colour so think a change is in order.

Red is my favourite colour, but it looks awful in the sun with all the swirls.

I have black with the red leather and I absolutely love it... genuinely would change it for any other (maybe the grey but it's pricey)

I have found some free speed camera resources and just uploading them now.. update shortly
