Re: exhausts this used to happen on my 335i. Once it warms a tad a gate opened and both sides were pukka. Could be the same on the s5?

I placed an order for new S5 sportback a few weeks ago. Went through contract cars, so was £351 per month on 9+23 profile.

I went for following spec:
Ibis white
Red leather
Folding exterior mirrors
Privacy glass

With the extra options, it came to £370 per month + £3330 initial payment (9 months) + £900 (£600 fee to contract cars plus £300 for documents/road tax etc).
Mine was £336 x 23 and £3600 initial with no options + £180 fee which works out at: £11,508 and then have to add on the VC at £250. Yours works out around £12,800 but you have one more option extra.
Are these prices including or excluding VAT?

I'm looking at placing an order for an S5 lease and I've been quoted £338/month (9+23) excluding VAT - works out to around £405 inc. VAT. That's for base without any extras. How is that looking compared to the deals done here?

I think this is quite common, I can't remember if it was to do with emissions or noise control, but I certainly experienced it on a handful of cars.
My last M3 (E92 v8) did exactly the same thing, you can even see one side of the exhaust picked up more sort/carbon than the other side, but there was a mod that you could do to leave the valves open all the time and generally give a better noise to the car. I have exactly the same on my 360, the workaround was really easy, just a matter of playing a couple of cables running into the top of the exhaust and then it sounded so much better.

My S5 Coupe in Navarra Blue with a build week of 5 has arrived in Port (Sherness) on Tuesday and is due to arrive at dealer on Friday. I will pick up next Friday.

Bit of an weird timeline but getting excited now as my S3 sold a few weeks ago!

(Status 21)19th Jan - Panel Shop - Week 4 went into production, 19th Jan
(Status 22) 20th Jan - Paint Shop
(Status 23) 21st Jan - Assembly
(Status 24)23rd Jan - Quality Control - 12 Days! (I hope they didn't crash it!)
(Status 30) 3rd Feb - Left Ingosladt
(Status 38) SInce 6th Feb At Port in Emden ( been there ever since on tracker!

I think the tracker might have stalled at the moment, will be interesting to see if anyone else is seeing this?

Once I pick up will try and post a review!

Would love to know if this is the case and can be done. Thanks for the insight!

Mine still showing 20th feb order received...
Mine still shows 20th Feb expected build.

I've had an update this morning that the dealer is expecting to receive my car 2nd/3rd week of March.

Yes, I would love to know as well. Last year I had an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, I bought a little remote control switch for that which basically plugged into the fuse board and allow me to switch the exhaust valves from open to close whenever unwanted, if anyone can find out if the values do exist and are connected to a single fuse then the same system would work for this one, I still have the details of the guy I bought the switch system from which memory was about £70 and took five minutes to install.

First thing o thought of was the famous "pull the fuse" trick on the V8 Vantage!

Simon did you not notice the Golf R prioritises the middle two? The S5 does have 4 genuine exhausts though!

BUMP THIS!

I've not seen any option to stop this happening. According to book It works whenever you close door or turn on engine and retracts after 60 seconds or engine off or door open.

It also retracts when it senses that the belt buckle engages the latch plate so might be worth checking the catch.

There are definetly exhaust flaps as there is a fuse for it... unfortunately it's a combined fuse which also runs tge injectors and radiator inlet so pulling it will have more consequences.

Just had a look up exhaust and you can see the valve flap. I think on start up it is routed to one exhaust. Then depending on mode selection (comfort being quiet and dynamic opening up all exhausts) you get flaps openned or closed. Even in dynamic the flaps are partly closed on stat up though.

Yeah but if I recall if you left it in race mode all 4 pipes were used on the R.
Tell you what though the S5 seems to pump out more dirt as I have to clean the pipes every week! Handy tip - I use wheel cleaner on mine when i do the wheels then rinse, then use barkeepers friend with a damp microfibre cloth and that brings them up a treat.

I have tried to keep my car clean in the past... but its disheartening going out on the road afterwards and it coming back about as mucky as it was before I washed it. So I make sure it is properly dirty before washing it!

Mine to!....according to the dealer he is confident of delivery 20th March, if so then I don't think the online tracker is accurate at all.

I recall watching a video and a bmw 140i had the same exhaust flap. The chap just unplugged it by the exhaust. 5 min job. Wonder if this could be done on the S5?

FYI mine has been in quality control since 13th I believe.
