Agreed, get a replacement or if not reject it as in these situations (and in my experience) cars built this defectively tend to just keep going wrong as the repairs carried out are never to the same factory standards. I feel for you though, as your case is quite extreme for a normally very well made car.

Quickly changing the subject to buying/leasing black cars..........

Washed and polished it today...looked lovely! then some bcensoredd down the road cut a load of paving slabs with a electric saw and the breeze blew all of the grey dust all over the car, then it rained a little. Now the car looks like the surface of the bloody moon. curse

It's a lease car, not purchased, so I strongly suspect the usual "reject in 30 days" rule won't apply.

Theyve given me a Q3 sline diesel. Terrible in comparison. I did ask them for something better but they say they had nothing.

Really not happy at all with the whole situation.

Immediately reject the vehicle 100% and ask them to build you a new one and you expect them to do something additional. If it was me i would be posting on the audi Twitter page and Facebook page and googling to find email addresses foe the CEO office etc. They tend to react quicker when you put this in the public eye

Thanks all. I spoke to dealer today and apparently they no longer need to strip the engine. From what Bolton Audi told me today, it seems they've decided that they could potentially do the rewire by taking off the front bumper and doing it through there.

Im still unsure, but as long as theyre not touching the engine it should be good. Lets see. Will keep you posted.

Rewire after a few weeks? Not acceptable and doesn't bode well for the future. Reject the car it's a dud mate

Yep, Simon is right I'm afraid. It will never be the same, especially with the 'lazy' fix they are proposing.

So I have finally got some insurance lined up for taking the tdi tuning box on and Stuart at tdi has offered for me to go down and have the box put on the car to have a try before I buy which i thought was fantastic. I was being swayed by the DTUK one given they have a test S4 they are running and it is cheaper but I would rather have it fitted than do it myself and DTUK dont have this option unless you are in Durham.

Are you guys still happy with the tdi box? Does it idle smoothly?

You will be more than happy with it. TDI guys are great and more than helpful. The Idle is fine...like normal really, but when you floor it woohoo

To give you an idea what it does, there is a video of an M4 with a tuning box fitted (not a TDI box) but the principle and driver reactions are much the same when fitted to the S5 giving you an extra 50bhp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxuHEkTWclg

Also, if your not too far away TDI will tweak the box to your liking as well.

Will be good to hear your opinion!

[Edit] BTW, I'm not comparing a rear wheel drive M4 to a AWD S5 at all (no wheel spins & all that), just the difference these boxes can make.

Bit of help with MMI...

When I collected the car it came with the official Audi cable to connect my iPhone 6. (Lightning connector)

In my old car I just left my old style iPod (which uses a 20 pin connector) plugged in to avoid messing with my phone.

I tried connecting the iPod with the normal apple USB cable and it says it's not supported.

Any ideas if the iPod is not supported at all or if I just need a different cable for it?

Simon - If ever you're over Preston Brook way once you've had the box fitted I'd be interested to see what the car goes like... smile

Not sure of your question. MMI supports iPhone 6&7, but did you not try the iPhone USB cable supplied and just use that?

If you do, have a race (somewhere safe of course). The TDI tuned will leave the stock S5 about 5 car lengths behind 0-100. I've tried it, it's fun. byebye

The question is does it support older iPods that don't use the lightning port?

Ah, sorry.
No, I tried to use an old iPhone 4 that had loads of music on and could not get it to work after trying about 3 different USB cables. I did see somewhere that it is possible using some sort of modified cable though.

Im only in Halewood so ill pop over. Slight delay of getting the box fitted as the car is going into Audi. Finally got it booked in to check the creak/rattle coming from the back 3/4 area on the passenger side. Someone on here had a faulty window seal replaced and it does sound like glass is moving. Dont want it installed then have to take it back out almost straight away. Nearest date Audi could get me in was 12th June which is a bit of a joke.

Don't suppose you were driving through the Strand this morning around 8am? Spotted a Navarra blue S5, reg SPW ? Car was looking great either way.
