Just a quick one to compare any recent deals & get some thoughts....

I will be coming out of a 435d x-drive M-sport Gran Coupe in November which I love and I am thinking an S5 Sportback would be a good replacement. The 435d is super quick & very well kitted out so need something comparable for an everyday commuter...

Initial spec thoughts would be:

Navara Blue
Rotor grey leather
Comfort & Sound Pack
Electric Door mirrors
Electric memory front seats
Light & Vision Pack
Flat bottom steering wheel

Had a quote for 10k per year - £3k+VAT down / £435+VAT per month on 24 months

How does this stack up against some of the deals you guys have had?

Has anyone seen any really good deals recently or got a lease direct from the dealer?

Cheers.
hi mate with those options it seems pretty good. I have just VC on mine - was around 3600 down and 340 a month. However it was before the tax changes. You might want to look at a PCP with those options? I am pretty sure I can see 15% etc at coast2coastcars and others (was a while ago) if you order now it seems oct delivery is about right. Also check out Solent vehicle leasing - some good deals on lease there at the moment.

I was in a 335d x drive f30, loved it too, this car is a little bit more special though and its sounds amazing!

Hi guys - I ordered in March and my S5 was built in Week 19. It's gone to status code 39 today, so has landed in the UK. Is there any way to track it from here, or do I have to wait for the next code when it's at the dealer?

Looks like we have the same order and build dates. Mine was on status code 38 at the beginning of the week but the Your Audi site has been down since the end of last week due to maintenance work so I can't track it. Hoping mine was on the same ship as yours. This is agony!

Congrats on your new cars.....not long now if in UK! These cars are definitely worth waiting for and appreciate your excitement.

I almost went with a 335d X Drive before the S5 came along but was put off by the steering and handling characteristics. For me the Audi steers and handles better which is not something I expect to say very often. Great shove in a 335 though but the S5 does make a much better sound!

Thanks guys... I have to say my 435d x-drive has been great. You really have to drive it to believe the power that diesel produces.... really has some grunt!

Interestingly I went to the dealer and took an S5 cab for a spin this morning. Ok it's a cab and I want a sportback but gave me a feel for the car. Clearly the S5 is as fast if not faster than the 435d but it didn't feel it.... just highlighted the difference between petrol and diesel. Guess I am just too used to the torque of the diesel engine.

Anyway trying to finalise on a colour combo then get an order placed....

By any chance has anyone got either of the following combo's (it may well be buried in this thread somewhere) so I can see what it looks like....

Manhattan Grey with Magma Red leather
or
Navarra Blue with Rotor Grey leather

thanks.

Me too! looked at the 335d X Drive and nearly bought one until I drove the S5. In Comparison I was finally put off by:

1. You see them everywhere (shape wise).
2. Option price for better telephone/nav system was mad.
3. Inferior interior quality to the S5 (and Audi in general). The S5 was far more comfortable to drive.
4. Inferior handling at speed
5. Stupid lease deal quoted compared to Audi
6. Less standard technology in class
7. S5 performance was way better
8. And finally.......a nagging smarmy salesman who phoned and emailed every bloody day after the test drive for an order and then finally saying '' I know you want it, just give me the nod '', then he put the phone down on me when I said I actually preferred the Audi. I won't be buying a BMW in the future after that. rage

Hahahah thats a fairly decent list! The BMW guy wouldnt have it that the car doesnt have M Sport suspension so he asked the BMW 'Genius' guy when we got back to the showroom to be told it does just have standard suspension. His response? "Well thats a bit of a con isnt it" Ummm well yeah but dont say that in front of customers

That just about sums BMW dealers up. They think that one you've test driven one you will want it as there is no other better option.....how wrong they are. 'The (not quite) Ultimate driving machine'.

Like the OP said though, the 335d does have great torque in it's favour. The 340i actually seems slower.

Samir83: I've been accessing the Audi API directly, not the MyAudi website, so I've had continuous updates! :]

And then about BMWs... the irony of people who have been saying that all Audis look the same, well maybe that was true a few years ago, but at the current iteration its all BMWs that look the same! There's not enough excitement.

They should do something about that. Maybe I'm brainwashed by Ingolstadt, but I just don't get the current squashed BMW snout. And then they've got some seriously ugly cars right now, like the X4 and the 2-series Active Tourer. WTF.

I can forgive BMW for the 2 series tourer and even putting std suspension on my x drive 335d (prob better for me in london lol) as the new M5 looks like it will be immense again.

600 bhp+ M x drive etc yes please!

Seen a new 530d m sport today and it looks bloody good so I will refrain from too much BMW bashing. I can only imagine how good the M5 will look.

I'd also take an rs6 too please.

Finally got my S5 and loving it so far. I have a Cabriolet and when the roof is down I can hear a high pitched squeal/hiss when slowing down or pulling away. I've been told this is air being dumped from the turbo. Is this right? Sounds like brake squeal but isn't the brakes...

Hiss slowing down could be the turbo blow off valve, but DEFINATELTY not a squeal ... something not right there, like you say more likely the brakes. Also, turbos don't blow off pressure on acceleration (except between shifts). Best get it looked at. If the dealer told you the 'squeal' noise was the turbo I would make a complaint as they do not do that.

No need to run in just make sure the car is up to temperature and then drive it however you want. I would advise 99 RON fuel too. ALA are usually good but you can play a few companies off against each other to get the price down.

What did you order? SB or Coupe? What spec? Look forward to seeing pics and getting your first impressions

Good stuff. Ws delivered this morning. Sat in work car park as we speak. requiring a monumental amount of self control to not take it out all afternoon or just sit in it playing with the controls.

Ibis white, red leather, red calipers, flat bottomed wheel, Virtual cockpit and privacy glass.

No pics yet but it looks amazing. I was really worried that it wouldn;t look great but very happy.

On a brief spin around town pre work I'm a little in love. But will drive it properly tonight and take some pics and get them up.

ALA will price match and then beat it by 20%. Someone earlier in this thread posted how to get it quite cheap so I just copied.

Got a quote from Totallossgap.co.uk, ALA then matched it. I think it went from £200+ to about £90 in the end for the 2 years.

Ok, so I have an issue with mine.

Left rear door, when I open it the glass drops about half way down rather than by about 5mm, and then when I close the door it goes back up by the 5mm leaving the window open! I can close it by going into the car and putting it up, but its a faff! And the MMI app says the windows are open when they aren't. Anybody know if this can be "recalibrated" without faffing about taking it to the dealer 30 miles away?

That's odd. Maybe worth trying a MMI reset by disconnecting the battery in the boot for 1/2 hour (with window up) before doing anything else as it maybe just some weird setting?
