Simon

I'm really sorry to hear about your car, I haven't been on this thread for a few weeks now and was really shocked to hear your news when clicked over here late yesterday.
As others have said, I guess you need to be thankful that no one was in the house as I can imagine that would be an even more shocking and upsetting ordeal.
After us all going through the wait the cars to arrive and then the attention to detail you spent on preparing your car it must be really heart-wrenching that it has been taken.

Confused... I thought you said exactly the opposite recently, when we were talking about business vs personal leases?

Anyhow, Dufflecoat is right - GPS data in images is a significant privacy risk and a lot easier to leverage than registration numbers. Use an image hosting service that strips it out, turn off GPS data in your camera app, or strip it out some other way if you don't want the location of the picture to be easily discoverable.
yeah remember that. Said I live close so walk to work, but have a secure gated and locked compound at rear of home (registered office) where it and others sit. I edited the images at work before posting on PH, would that be why?
Like you said, need to get rid of the GPS data before posting any pics again, as never knew it did that.

Same here. Google earth maps starts OK (slow to load though), then locks up after a few miles so you don't know which way to turn at a junction......then after a few minutes it works again. I am using a data SIM in the MMI so not sure if that's the culprit?. Need to remove it and see. Really cant be arsed with the hassle to visit the dealer.

So it sounds like that's a least three of us with the same problem at the same time. I think I MAY have a solution, but it could be a coincidence:-
yesterday I received a phone call from the "Audi Activation team" with a message saying I need to activate my car. This morning I called them, I explained that I had registered online, but they told me this was something completely different it includes the breakdown cover which I just assumed was all part of the car when it was handed over.
I gave them the registration number, they explain my car hadn't been activated by them - although I had downloaded the air, registered with audi on line etc just like most of us on here have done.
I went through a series of very simple questions and they then confirmed that I was then activated.

The interesting part comes when I then explained to the lady on the phone that I was having problems with the navigation, I switched over to the navigation screen whilst driving and within a couple of seconds Google Maps was loading perfectly.

so only a few seconds after going through the activation process it now all appears to work again. I tested a few times today and it seems to be loading perfectly.
It could just be a coincidence, but if you're still having trouble it might be worth trying the same process.

The number to call is 0330 1008909 - you then need to press option three which will get you straight through to a customer service representative. Then give them your registration number and answer the questions. It only takes a few minutes.
It will be interesting to see if this resolves anyone else's issues or if perhaps the issues of resolve themselves at the same time as mine today in which case this slightly unusual registration system will have nothing to do with it at all.

Called the number and asked if I should 'activate' the car. The chap said I had already done this online a while ago so there was nothing to do.

My google maps has been doing the same. Seems to be a known issue, lots of posts on it in Audi-sport forums across a range of Audi models, not just S5. Audi customer care twitter feed also states its a known problem and they are 'looking at solutions'....

Thanks mate and thank you everyone for the kind words. Once all the insurance etc is sorted I can't decide what to do. Part of me just wants to get a Focus or Astra but the other art of me thinks why let them win.
CCTV is going up in a few days as is an updated alarm and extra security light and I am looking at installing a driveway post too if I get another decent motor.

Dont blame you, sadly these things are needed these days of the 'something for nothing culture' we live in.

Just read a post that somebody mentioned grocery bag hooks in the boot.

My coupe definitely doesn't have these, is it supposed to?

Anyone else with the dodgy nav noticed that it seems to be working fine today? (Done a few journeys in mine and it's worked flawlessly...just like it used to in fact!)

No, mine froze again yesterday evening, only once though.

FOLKS, my car has been spotted in the last 24 hours on Larne Court in Widnes literally 5 miles from my house. If anyone lives anywhere near here please keep your eyes out for my Nav Blue S5 coupe. It was last seen with my private plate still on it Y31 SPW

On the positive side it sounds like you have a good chance of retrieval then, as it's 'still around'. As long as plod don't chase it and them trash it trying to get away that is. Fingers crossed for you mate.

Having had loading issues during the past week, today mine's developed a variation.

After Google Maps boots up the MMI changes from daylight colours to night time colours - both in standard view. Google Maps satellite view is on the VC, however. Toggling the Map Settings to Standard view reverts both to Standard, as it should, but Google Maps only converts the VC to Google maps, the MMI stays 'night time'.

Wondering if a hard MMI reset would be worth trying (if I knew how to), but wouldn't that involve all sorts of re-registering?

Kin cheeky bar stewards!!!!

I'm in WA7 so will keep my eyes peeled this end. I can't believe the idiots still have it running on the original plates...unless of course they want a police chase in it!!!

Bloody great isn't it. Someone mentioned earlier about lots of talk on the Audi sport forums about the NAV issues. Does anybody have a link to the discussion by any chance?

I know mate possible they may have taken the plate off now but mad to think it has been seen recently still with the private reg on. Shame the police didn't go and check out the lead!
Not many new shape nav blue coupes around either so would stick out. It has black leather privacy glass and If you see one parked check the dust caps as I put on gunmetal grey audi logo ones.
