Hi Guys, I've been looking for a new car over the past couple of months and went into the Audi garage today and saw the S5 sportback.
I think I'm sold on it but it's been a while since I've owned an Audi so what would you guys recommend at minimum the extras I should ask for?
I like the look of virtual cockpit but is there anything else that I should consider (within reason) don't really want to spend 10k on extras.

Also I would normally just buy through PCP on a 2-3 year deal but I know that leasing has become very popular.
Which would I get the best deal with?

I have no idea what the lease deals are like now, but I'd heartily recommend James Bartle at Doncaster Audi.

The car is really nicely equipped as standard but my thoughts are...

The VC (£250?) is pretty useful (and cool) and the longer I have the car the more I like it. If the stick-on dash display was retractable like in the A8 and A7, I'd be even happier.

The flat bottom steering wheel is cheap and (IMHO) very much worth it... I've never had a flat bottom wheel before and I love it. It just feels right.

I have two kids so I went for the storage pack (£175?) purely to get the rear cup holders. Inevitably, they have yet to be used... The cargo net in the boot is very useful though.

I also have a couple of packs (Comfort & Sound, Light & Vision)... they add some nice features (advanced key, B&O, matrix lights, rear view camera) and I'm glad I have them, but they're not really in the true spirit of PH leasing! As of yet, I haven't driven in the dark so no idea whether the matrix lights are worth it, but the B&O has really grown on me and I'd miss the rear view camera if I didn't have it.

To be frank, even if you bought this car with zero options it would still be fabulous smile

They've stopped taking orders haven't they ?
Tweaks to the software meaning emissions and fuel consumption changes or something.

I've been told no orders being taken either and wait times are above 20 weeks now.

No remote lock/unlock unfortunately... "You are not authorised for this service!"

The myAudi site tells me that the account is verified, but I need to assign myself as the key user... but each time I try that I get a 'connection error'. I've tried in several locations too, just in case it's an issue with the signal strength for the Audi sim (assuming that's what it uses). I've also tried with my phone connected by cable and bluetooth, cable only, bluetooth only... at a bit of a loss so I'd better give Audi a call.
Can you delete the account and start over completely using a different login name?

If I was buying I would have light and vision and would strongly consider the sports diff and B&O.

Leasing I have VC and flat bottomed wheel which I aren't sure I would go for again.

For those of you who have taken out GAP insurance, what level of coverage did you go for? I've got a 2 year lease and ALA is suggesting £25,000 cover based on a value of £47,000.

That will do it easily.

I doubt you will need such high cover if leasing. Price that VWFS paid to dealer will be much lower than 47K. If you got order details, there should be full price of the car on invoice. And make sure you look at finance gap, not invoice gap.

Useful information for getting best GAP deal is earlier in this thread. Look around Feb/March this year - I got my car early April, having followed the advice.

Thanks - appreciate the heads up to save trawling through from the start. Looks like most people went for £15k cover from ALA after getting a price match from Autoebid (which comes in at £84.31 excluding deposit protection).

Delivery booked in for Sept 1st!

The thing is when pricing from ALA (and then going back to them to beat totalloss) is you want the premium to be as high as possible given they beat it by 20% of the difference, so go with the recommended (as they can't really argue with that).

Just a quick query on GAP - are you all logging the price of the the car as the RRP? For example my replacement S5 is worth just shy of £52k so would you use that value or are you all using the exc VAT value or something different?

I put my car as RRP, but it only had £350 of options on it. Your new one must have some nice kit on it then?

Cool just wanted to check. few bits - vision pack inc HUD, pan roof, B&O, ext led, flat wheel, folding heated mirrors, Audi phone box. Would not of ticked all those myself but happy to get back into an S5 coupe via a cancelled order rather than wait 20 weeks plus for one from the factory.

Definitely, are they charging you more for it? Is the HUD any good?

Dodgy pic but you get the idea. At first the HUD was a major distraction but after only a few minutes it becomes natural. I find it very good when using the sat nav as the direction arrow and distance to next turn etc are directly in your line of sight along with the speed limit on the road and current speed. You can move where the HUD display is so you can have it just peeping out above the wheel or right out on the road ahead and adjust the brightness or turn it off. I quite like it but wouldnt pay what Audi charge for it myself.

I pay 12 quid a month more now that I was.

Not yet warmed to the Daytona Grey - after Nav Blue it seems a bit bland but I guess thats obvious because the blue does stand out and the grey blends in to the traffic. Get it back from the detailer today though so hoping it will change mind once o see it gleaming.

Sounds like its worth the £12 a month, especially as I presume you didnt have an initial payment?

No initial - I get the feeling it was perhaps not standard process as whilst they said it is possible to get in a replacement it is unlikely given the car would have to be like for like spec wise. But then i was offered this cancelled order so I suspect they just wanted to move it on quickly perhaps. Not sure and not complaining!

Can you help?!

I've had my S5 Sportback for around 2 months now and I've come across a few things that i'm hoping the forum can clarify before i speak to my dealer. This is predominantly aimed at those of you who already have an S5 Sportback (with basic spec or some standalone options e.g. privacy glass, non-standard paint, flat bottom steering, etc.).

I saw a near identical S5 to mine in a car park the other day (first one I've seen near me so no longer have the exclusive bragging rights). I noticed that they had chrome trims on the door handles whereas mine are all brilliant black to match the paintwork. Having looked through the Audi website, I can see the chrome trimmed handles being listed as standard spec so wondering if everyone has these and i'm the only unfortunate one? I didn't see these being part of the MY18 update either.

Following on from this i decided to see if any other things were missing from my car. Couldn't find much information about it in Audi's brochure, price list or configurator but most of the YouTube videos show the S5 as having fog lights in the front bumper whereas most of the images on this forum (and my own car) just have the black plastic insert. Does anyone know if the fog lights are extra options?

Lastly, just throwing one more thing out there, does anyone have door sill trims in the rear? I have the illuminated ones in the front and most videos I have managed to get footage from do not have any sill trims in the rear but you never know.

I am hoping that those of us who got the first/early batches of these vehicles aren't being shortchanged in any way!

Thanks in advance for any input you can offer guys/gals smile
