Interesting to hear about the B&O.

I've got matrix lights and it took me a month to realise how auto full beam works. Only dipping the LEDs in the light cluster that affects an oncoming driver. For ages I thought it wasn't working because looking at the roadside doesn't tell you that full beam has dipped. Very cool.

Can I add to your list the flat bottomed wheel? I think the default wheel is excellent in terms of size, appearance and functionality.

And hill hold... is it really necessary? I have to stop on a hill during my daily commute, and the car holds itself. Or I pull the lever. Hill Hold should be on the options list as "profit for us thx".

The car also has flat wheel extended led folding mirrors and VC but these were on my previous S5. I quite like the appearance of the flat wheel but agree hill hold should be standard. You don't really need it but at this price it should come with it

Hi guys,

Need some advice. So someone has reversed or driven into my right hand exhaust pipes which appear to have been shunted forward an inch or so. Exhaust sounds like it is blowing so I suspect something has split further up.

The car is leased.... any ideas on what I should do? And what sort of cost I'm looking at frown

Well, it's on you to fix, and it's up to you whether you claim on your insurance.

Parts need to be OEM but labour doesn't.

Personally I'd take it to Audi. Doubt they'd charge for the "investigation".

Don't you just hate these drive off b*****ds! but yes, take it to Audi to look at first in case there is other damage apart from the exhaust. I think I saw somewhere online that a complete OEM B9 S5 exhaust system is IRO £2800.00, so possibly half that cost for one side. With a bit of luck it may be not too severe and be repairable, otherwise it is a sizable bill to have too replace.

Delivery confirmed for Friday!!

However...checked my insurance docs and the idiots have put it down as an RS5 as when I told them of the change they couldn't recognise the registration.

Fingers crossed the premium goes down.

Guys, final question. Promise. Do you get anything extra with the Avant than the Saloon in the S4? Looks like I can get either at the same lease price. Prefer the Saloon if honest, but if the Avant gives more for the same price then I'm game...

You get a boot.

Personally, I think the Avant looks better.

Avant looks better, is 'cooler', has way more space and versatility plus, auto close boot button (never gets boring pressing it).

Thanks guys. Maybe I'm a weird wanting the Saloon more?! I dunno. Space and practicality I get. Power Boot I get (have it on my 3 GT). But just not sold on the Avant. Will see if I have an epiphany in the morning. Oh and only one guy is offering £10.6K for an order now, and had two others tell me they're not even taking orders currently due to the engine rehomologation drama...

Figured id give a readout on the additional kit my replacement S5 came with over my previous one;

Pan Roof - not worth 1250 quid. I use it quite a bit but only because it's there - I would not miss it. Adds creaks and squeaks to the cabin that were not there in my previous coupe which is annoying. It isnt actually that big of an opening either - maybe the SB one is larger

B&O Sound - sounds hardly any different than standard sound to me currently but still convinced mine isnt working properly as it lacks power, bass and the rear speakers rattle like crazy (sounds like a duff speaker/s maybe)

Head Up Display - Love this feature especially when using sat nav. Not having to take your eyes off the road at all is great and it shows your speed, speed limit on the road, sat nav info and the lane assist status.

Wireless charging - Handy and charges the phone quicker than when plugged in but let's face it - plugging the phone in takes only a few seconds

Matrix lights - Cant see them from in the car and not able to tell the difference when driving. Nice to catch a glimpse of the sweeping indicator at the front once in a while but not worth the upgrade

Tour pack - Mostly assist systems that sit in the background and are not visible during the day to day

If it was my money I would only take the HUD from the list currently even though it is pricey - I really do like it. If I get to the bottom of the B&O sound problems then that might become another one I would go for.

Have you driven in the dark with stuff coming the other way yet? Surely you can have your side of the road illuminated with other stuff coming the other way and thats the point of it?

I prefer the saloon, they are usually quieter on less than perfect road surfaces, and you and your new shiny expensive car don't become the family packhorse.

To say it's not very interesting to look at is an understatement

To say it's discreet and subtle and not all shouty is another way of looking at it.
If I could have ordered it with 2 tail pipes on one side and S-line badges, I would have.
Everyone's different.

I agree with that, I don't necessarily agree with your choice to make it look like an sline if you had had the choice, but as you say everyone is different.

I think the S models look different enough to the lower models without drawing too much attention to themselves (unlike the RS models), wheras I do not like how BMW have it where really there isn't a lot to distinguish a 320d from a 340i if they are both M Sport spec.

Out of S4 Saloon/Avant & S5 Sportback/Coupe I think the S4 Saloon is easily the worst looking, but I have always thought that back end of the A4 saloon doesnt seem to go with the rest of the car. If the rear lights were like the A5 it would be a different story perhaps.

You're right about the back end on the saloon, compared to the S5s, it looks a bit narrow. I think it's the top half to bottom half ratio.

Its the shape of the lights from the side or 3/4 view that just dont look as nice IMO, and as you say the A5/S5 is more chunky.

Appreciate the discussion but unfortunately my decision is null and void anyway. Apparently the deals have been pulled across the board. My last bastion of hope has fallen this morning. I am now in a period of mourning before making the next move...

I know it's not in the same ball park performance wise, but if you're after a nice Audi, there is support on the A7 3.0 tdi Se Exec Ultra at the moment. £48k car for £300 a month on a 9+23.
