I'm sure you mean the TT V8 and not the V6 then?...test drove the V6 a while back (just for fun) and it was pretty lame IMO.

I haven't got it understeering badly when driving at safe levels on the road (IMO). Far far better than the B8 S4 I had in this respect.
One of the main reasons is because it is lighter without that old V8 lump.
It isn't. The B8 has the supercharged V6!

The B9 is just a far better chassis I think.

Well all after the stolen S5 saga and a few weeks gone by I've decided I don't want to step into a Leon 300 and I'm going to get back in an S5 if possible. Whilst there is a slim chance Audi put me in another I'm not holding much hope.

So if anyone spots a half decent lease deal please post it.
Coupe or SB not bothered.
Hi all, brand new poster here but I have been lurking a while after having my S5 stolen in August. I have been following Simon's post to see what happened regards his dealing with VWFS. I have just had confirmation that my insurance are paying out in full so I have had no issue regards GAP insurance which I'm glad about as I didn't have any! I was hoping this was the case as I had only had the vehicle 5 weeks before it was taken.

Anyway I have a dilemma now as Audi finance have just told me that they will now search for the next 30 days for a replacement vehicle but I am really wary of having another S5 as im worried that the same thing will happen. I asked what the options of having another Audi were but not an S model and was told they would only do a direct replacement. Has anybody had the same issue and what are your thoughts please, should I just get another S5?

I went through the same thought process - you can read it in my posts lol
For me I was straight away thinking about getting an Astra or Focus and to hell with it. But, Vauxhall and Fords get stolen not just fast Audi's.

So if they can find you a replacement, which might be hard given they are not making them currently so stock might be shifting more easily, go for it.

I took a few additional security measures and am happy i took another S5.

If they cant find you one then you can use your GAP to get the deposit back and take another lease. If Audi cant locate a like for like ie same spec etc you might be able to approach a dealer or dealer group and ask if they would lease a stock car. JCT600 might be an option for this.

Sorry to hear about the theft - know it hurts in many different ways. My wife is still not 100% since it happened and doesnt like being in the house alone if the car is on the driveway.

Thanks Simon. Unfortunately, or stupidly, I didn't take GAP so Audi have told me that if they can source a replacement then my contract hire payments would just continue as normal.

I had the discussion with my missus last night that if Audi don't allow me a different model then I would lose the deposit and would need to find the deposit for another vehicle so how would she feel if I stick with the S5 and spend the money that I would have on a deposit on the security upgrades. Her response wasn't the greatest! She is convinced that if we get another the scum will come back and that if we make it harder for them they will just come in the house and threaten us mad

Might feel different in a months time - have you tried looking at the Audi used site and seeing if there is a like for like car? Also, every Monday a stock list is issued internally at VWFS so I would call back every Tuesday from next week to see if anything has cropped up

Update on my stolen S5! So after reading a number of articles online yesterday regards stolen S5's being found a few weeks later I realised that I had not received an update on mine from Greater Manchester Police. So I decided to give them a call and after being passed from pillar to post was updated with the news that my car had been found and recovered on the 24th September in Liverpool!

I asked why I wasn't informed it had been found, as by this point the insurance had settled with Audi and I was left with the hassle of trying to arrange another vehicle, paying my excess and seeing my insurance premiums increase! They told me that they had informed the registered owner, VWFS, on the 25th September. They also told me what street the car was found on and the recovery company that now had the car. I have called them and they confirmed that they had the car and there was no visible damage and give me the details of the police log when the car was found.

Rang Merseyside police who confirmed that car was picked up on false plates and was parked around 5 mins from the docks. They weren't going to investigate and no fingerprints would be taken as in essence their job was vehicle recovery as the crime was reported in Greater Manchester it was up to them to decide if they were going to investigate!

Finally received a call back from VWFS today to say that they have spoken to the insurance company who have told them they will still proceed with the write off as the car was uneconomical to repair. This is utter bullst as the recovery yard have already told me that there is no damage. An absolute joke from all parties concerned and im now left with a wait to see if Audi can find a replacement in the next 30 days otherwise they will cancel the contract and I will lose my initial payment!

Terrible - but not surprising sadly. Once the insurance process kicks in there is no going back and if the car is pretty much spot on then the insurance win. They pay VWFS minus VAT and can sell the car for a much higher price. Feel for you in what must be a very frustrating situation. Did you check if any dealers have a 'used' one that matches your spec? From my dealings with VWFS the spec has to be the same but colour can be flexible ie if you had a free colour then the replacement needs a free colour so could be black or white.

This seems pretty unlikely. VWFS don't get paid the VAT, but If the insurance co buy a car for £20K with no vat (because it's a VAT-qualifying car) and then sell it "retail" for £25K including VAT, they'd have to pay over £4K of VAT to HMRC,

How annoying. This is a problem when you don't own your car, you are subject to other parties deciding what's best for them.

Hello,

Long time lurker of this thread before ordering a leased S5 sportback (Navarra Blue / red leather / light & vision / privacy glass) on the 28th of July... and after. Coming from my second GTD, this'll probably be a bit of a shock to the system.

The car is now, I presume, is waiting on the dockside at Emden (reads status 30) after I was notified of it leaving the factory just over a week ago.

I've had a letter from Audi in Crewe, who are supplying the car, stating that due to the rehomologation of the 3.0TFSI engine giving higher emission / consumption results, the VED applied will go up - No real surprise there, I knew this would happen, however, Audi's website stated that the new emissions figures would apply to S5 cars ordered "on or after the 23rd of August 2017"

Conveniently, this text has disappeared from the website and Audi CS can't give me straight answer despite 3 phone calls asking for them to write to me to stating the 23rd Aug figure. Problem also is, that I'm trying to prove this to the leasing broker who wants to up my monthlies to take into account the VED increase and won't believe me without a letter from Audi...

Does anyone else have this problem (or a solution?)

VWFS will get a fair price for the lost car regardless of the VAT status I would think. Given that the idea of a fair price is to allow a replacement to be sourced it's unreasonable to expect a company to have to look for a second hand car that is a VAT qualifying car so they don't have to pay more than they got on the claim (I.e. you can't expect a business to only get £25k for a car that was worth £30k post VAT since most used cars do not have VAT to claim back). But I agree that the car if the insurance company ever gets it will end up getting VAT paid on it at some point. I actually think that getting the car done as a total loss helps VWFS as it means they will get a figure that doesn't reflect the VAT status of the car. If they get the car back after a 2y lease they will have to accommodate the VAT aspect in their selling value.

Must be about four months since it went? That's a surprise. I'd have thought it would be exported/broken for parts/used for a 'job' pretty much straight away.

Yeah just over 3 months - it was found 1.5 miles away from my house in a garage on false plates. Glove box completely ripped out and all the plastic compartments in the boot pulled apart. Searching for a tracker i suspect. Aside from that in as new condition.
